Nope.  We don't know how Getz will operate yet as a GM, however, so this type of signing might be in his wheelhouse
Devin Williams
9:21
Does he get dealt by Milwaukee
Mark P
9:22
Yeah.  Brewers fans don't want to hear this, but Williams is a free agent after 2025, so the clock is ticking on his time in Milwaukee.  I could see the Crew move him next winter

After losing Ohtani, do the Angels use the money they were willing to spend on him to fill the many holes they have or does Moreno put his wallet back in his pocket and continue to lie to the fans why they can't win.
Mark P
9:24
For all the criticisms one can level at Arte Moreno, he has certainly shown he's willing to spend.  Even if he doesn't want to broach the luxury tax level, Moreno has agreed to more than a few huge signings and Trout's extension

If the Nats moved Hunter Harvey and Kyle Finnegan in the same deal, could that potentially land a back end top 100ish prospect as a headliner? It just doesn't make too much sense to me why a bottom five MLB team would keep relievers with value, and it would make sense to me for a team to want to do a "one stop shop" so to speak to vastly improve a bullpen on a contending team.
Mark P
9:25
That might be an optimistic ask in a trade return, but you're right that Harvey/Finnegan seem like pretty obvious trade chips.

Braves deal Ozuna for prospects to replenish farm teams?
Mark P
9:27
I don't think Ozuna would net all that much in the way of a return.

Between the Mariners' depth of young pitching and needs in OF/MI, and the Twins the reverse, they make a ton of sense for a trade, no?  Seems like the Twins are in a great spot if they simply replace Gray with a guy like Gilbert or Kirby by dealing from their MI depth.  The rest of the roster is pretty set as Paddack essentially replaces Maeda, and they can't have much worse health luck than they had of their stars this year.  Plus lots more depth coming in Brooks Lee and Austin Martin and young arms themselves.

Twins and Mariners do make some sense as trade partners, though Gilbert/Kirby seems like they're off the table in any deal for Seattle.

Santander for Bieber who says no?

I feel the Guardians probably would prefer a younger player involved, but on the face of it, this deal makes a lot of sense for both sides.

What is jung hoo lee's deal going to total?
Mark P
9:33
We had him at five years and $50MM, and i see no reason to suggest he might get less

do the Cards have a chance to be relevant in 2024?
Mark P
9:35
Absolutely.  We've seen these kinds of "Murphy's Law" types of seasons before from perpetual contenders, with bounce-backs the very next season.
$700M = $350M ???
9:35
One of the reasons LA had to increase its offer to Ohtani is due to taxes. The tax rates in CA are the highest in the nation. Between federal taxes, CA state and local taxes, union dues and agent fees, Ohtani will be lucky to take home $350M in net pay.
Mark P

Only $350MM?  Poor guy.
Guardians of the Galaxy

First off let me say that I love Josh Naylor and hope he remains a Guardian for many more years. But they also have Manzardo who would slot well at 1B/DH assuming he is the real deal which could free up Naylor in a trade. They also have a Rule 5 pick who might slot as a 1B/DH and needs to play somewhere or be returned. What do you think the Guardians are thinking?
Mark P
9:36
My thinking is that Naylor has a lot better chance of being a quality MLB hitter in 2024 than any of the Guards' other internal options.  And, since the Guardians need hitting so badly, bring Manzardo up as the 1B/DH alongside Naylor, not as the replacement.

Manoah to KC for Melendez? Who says no?
Mark P
9:37
Toronto.  Melendez hasn't really shown anything at the big league level, whereas Manoah has shown an All-Star ceiling.

We've passed the two-hour mark, so let's call it for another week.  Thanks for all the questions, and hopefully I got to enough during this very busy night in the queue.
