Definitely possible.  The Rays never close the door on trimming the budget, especially if such trades would address other needs, or free up money for another acquisition

I saw what the White Sox were asking the Reds for Cease, would a Marte/Phillips be a good framework?

Only the Reds know how they internally value their various youngsters, but if it was "only" Marte and Phillips for Cease, that might be a very tempting proposal for Cincinnati to accept.  Then again, for all we know, the Reds are higher on Marte than anyone and he's closer to untouchable.

He really likes his situation, and thus was willing to take a team-friendly deal.  As much as we can talk about contracts or maximizing value or leaving money on the table, Ramirez did what he was most comfortable with, and you can't fault him for that.  (Plus, it's not like he's getting paid peanuts.)

These two deals are also right up there, but I'd still give it to Ramirez because of Cleveland's lack of financial resources.  There was no way the Guardians would've been able to lock him up (twice!) if Ramirez hadn't been unusually willing to take a below-market deal.

With the way money is flying around, Gerrit Cole is opting out or at least having the Yankees give him a new contract right? I mean 12 years for an unproven vs an ace like Cole is like ridiculous.

Cole is definitely enacting his opt-out clause unless something entirely unforeseen happens, but it's not a true opt-out since the Yankees can overwrite it by tacking another year onto the end of his contract.  It's hard to imagine (again, barring anything unforeseen) that the Yankees won't just give him that additional year to retain a proven ace

The multi-year nature of those deals makes me think KC is going to legitimately try and be respectable in 2024, and be a proper contender either in 2025 or as soon as this year.  Obviously a trade or two might still happen if plans go sideways, but these pitching adds were more substantive than a one-year contract that would be more easily flipped at the deadline.

I mean, the Rangers just spent a bunch of money to upgrade their team and won the World Series.  The 2020 Dodgers won the Series and could've also been considered something of a "superteam" after the Betts trade

It doesn't really hurt the O's to play wait-and-see with their many youngsters.  At worst, they get more seasoning time in the minors, and it's a bad developmental move in the long run if they dealt a veteran to create room for a prospect, and then that prospect fell flat in his first taste of the majors.

The O's are on the twin paths of both trying to properly manage this rebuild and now trying to win a World Series earlier than expected.  So keeping some proven vets around is a viable strategy, and there's nothing keeping the Orioles from still moving any of the more experienced players at the deadline if a youngster or two has absolutely proven themselves worthy of a bigger role

GR Field is a very underrated ballpark.  It is overshadowed by Wrigley in the same city, but it's a great place to catch a game
