When it comes to Prospect Promotion Incentive, does Jackson Chourio still qualify now that he has signed a major league contract?
Mark P
8:28
Yes
Why

How can a movie like Barbie get nominated for Best Picture?
Mark P
8:29
Because it was a good movie and it made a billion dollars?

If Hector Neris was willing to sign for 9+ million per year, wouldn’t it have been better use of financial resources for the Astros to sign him instead of 100 million for Hader???
Mark P
8:31
Perhaps Neris just wanted a change of scenery, or the Cubs had particular appeal.  But yeah, on paper, the Astros being willing to move on perhaps is a warning sign that they're concerned about Neris' shaky secondary metrics
Pick me!

Hicks hasn't thrown as a starter in a WHILE. How do you see the Giants getting the most out of his contract? Especially with the injury history. Was this more of a "We can't lure anyone else" signing?
Mark P
8:33
There's no reason Hicks couldn't move back to the bullpen as early as this season if the rotation experiment doesn't pan out.
If he pitches decently enough as a starter, then four years/$44MM for a decent SP is a bargain in today's market

would a cheap veteran starter like Ryu make sense to help soak up some innings from their young starters who will likely have a limit?
Mark P
8:35
Ryu makes a lot of sense for SF, sure

what happened to the jays signing of y Rodriguez? could another team make a better offer and snag one
Mark P
8:36
Apparently a deal is in place, but there's a holdup with Rodriguez's visa
Sell Artie Sell
8:37
The Angels have had one of the worst rated minor league systems for quite some time.  Is the issue poor drafts and international signing or poor development?
Mark P
8:38
Something of all of the above.  The Angels have also been unusually aggressive with some of their top prospects, and perhaps risking their development by rushing them to the big leagues too quickly.

I seem to recall reading a piece about which teams got the most out of homegrown prospects, and the Angels ranked something like eighth or ninth in WAR over the last decade....except it was almost all from Trout.

What’s the new name? Brew Crew for Milwaukee. Will there be a new name for the Wrigley residents?
Mark P
8:40
Aren't there already like 40 nicknames for Cubs fans?
Orbit
8:41
Arrested Development, The Office, or Parks and Rec?
Mark P
8:42
Despite my running beads/bees joke, I think I might prefer the Office of that trio.  Parks & Rec had the highest quality floor from (almost) start to finish, AD had the highest peak of its three seasons since I'm pretending the Netflix years didn't happen, but the Office might've been the best blend of both consistency and quality during the Carell years.
Joe
8:42
i know it’s his decision, but if you were in Crawford’s shoes would you retire as a lifetime Giant or tack on a couple more years to play as long as a team will sign you?
Mark P
8:43
If I'm feeling healthy and still had the desire to play, I'd play for as long as I could
Ken
8:43
By signing Alex Wood, do you see the A's move Blackburn or Sears before the start of the season?
Mark P
8:44
The A's need someone to cover these innings, so my guess is that they probably stand pat with any "bigger" trades for now
Miracle, Please!!
8:45
If the Royals tank again, do they get rid of there scouting dept and go for new people???
Mark P
8:46
Apparently the team has already been making some changes to its player development and behind-the-scenes operations since Picollo took over. The fact that Picollo was put in charge was already a sign that the Royals realized something needed fixing.

Is Christopher Sanchez really cemented as the no.5 starter so much so that other pitchers don't want to sign?
Mark P
8:47
I like Sanchez quite a bit and think he can be a very viable big league starter.  So yes, Philly's rotation seems pretty set unless someone gets hurt, so I can understand why they're having trouble luring extra arms.  Pitchers want to pitch, and want opportunity --- not be pure depth or put into the awkward position of waiting for injuries
THANK YOU!
