Uehara or Tazawa to the Jays needs to happen, right?
Jeffrey Todd
2:11
I think Koji is a great opportunity. He was pretty darn good last year if you look under the hood.

Hey, Jeffrey. Thanks for the chat.

A few people have been talking about Otani not being able to come over for years now unless he wants to settle for 6 mil. Any chance MLB and MLBPA work around this somehow in the next five years?
Jeffrey Todd
2:12
No idea. It's disappointing to think we won't get a chance to see him here in his early prime, though that has never been a sure thing.

Will there be any chance that Mozeliak trades Reyes?
Jeffrey Todd
2:12
Expect not.

Who should the Angels target at second? Cesar Hernandez for a long term piece or Coghlan or Phillips ad stopgaps?
Jeffrey Todd
2:14
I just am not sure what they'd offer to the Phillies, unless they gave up on one of their young starters who has had injury issues. There isn't a lot of demand on the 2B market and several teams have guys to trade, so opportunism may be the order of the day. Otherwise, some kind of iffy platoon, I guess.

Skaggs, Marte, N. Smith for LeMahieu. Who says no?
Jeffrey Todd
2:15
No way Rockies will do that, IMO. They will base their decisions around the core pieces they have, I think. Much more likely to deal a lefty-hitting OF (or they should be, anyway).

Since Cubs got Jon Jay, will they trade Soler now or just have a deep drop outfield?
Jeffrey Todd
2:15
I'll guess they trade him. Lines up.

Who gets traded: Bruce or Grandy?
Jeffrey Todd
2:15
Still guessing Bruce, though the return may not be appealing.

Your opinion on what the Yankees should do this offseason?
Jeffrey Todd
2:16
Seems they are setting up a sort of aggressive opportunism. As in, not necessarily sitting back and waiting for guys who just fall through the cracks (a la White Sox last year), but keeping involved in a lot of areas and looking for value signings -- even if it comes at a price.
Not sure they'll be driven by "needs" so much as opportunities.

Hey Jeff, getting excited for the winter meetings? As an A's fan I need some hope. Any chance "new" ownership is willing to spend some money? I can't take that cheap route any longer, it's so hard.
Jeffrey Todd
2:17
I will be there, along with Steve Adams and Jason Martinez from MLBTR. Should be fun.
I don't see them ramping up spending significantly, at least until the stadium is somehow resolved.
2:18
Just a heads up .... tons of participants and questions today. Which is great, but a) I won't get to your question; b) it isn't intentional; c) I may fall well behind in the queue.

Who do you see me getting for the phils first another bat or a fifth starter
Jeffrey Todd
2:19
There is no "first." They don't need to have priorities, per se. Just a matter of finding good deals.
That kind of flexibility offers its own positives.

Would the Braves be better of NOT gutting the farm for Sale or Archer?
Jeffrey Todd
2:20
Depends how they value them. Certainly, neither is only a 2017 asset. But there's lots of risk, and you'd be cashing in assets (before they've had another year of development) for present MLB value -- kinda wasting a very big part of the return, unless you compete.
I'm generally down on that idea, in large part b/c I don't see those guys changing hands for anything short of a really big package.

Who do you think we sign/trade for this offseason? RF, DH, SP, RP?? Thanks
Jeffrey Todd
2:22
I have tried to think about what the Royals will do, and I just have no earthly idea. They could sell off Davis and/or Cain, but still add some cheaper veteran pieces I guess. Tough spot, lots of ways to go, just impossible to predict for me.

With Mallex ready, Braves need to cash in on Inciarte now. A's need CF. Braves need SP. Gray for Inciarte + prospect?
Jeffrey Todd
2:22
I don't hate that framework.
2:23
I don't know what this means but it sounds awesome.

Haven't seen my name for a while. How is my market shaping up? Still thinking 4/60?
Jeffrey Todd
2:24
No movement that I've seen. But yes, still in that range. Lots of need for that kind of player still out there.

Why am I hearing all these rumours about the Yankees spending big on guys in their mid 30s for example guys like EE or Rich Hill. Are they not in the middle of a rebuild ?
Jeffrey Todd
2:25
In a sense, but they have spending capacity to maintain competitiveness right now. Plus, staying in contention would yield huge revenue dividends.
