Who would rather sign Snell or Montgomery ?
Mark P
9:12
Montgomery is my pick between the two.  Peak Snell isn't all that much higher than Peak Montgomery, and it's outweighed by Montgomery's much better track record of durability
Bellinger Dark Horse
9:12
I feel like the Rockies could emerge as a strangely odd, but logical Cody Bellinger dark horse. They've got a hole in RF with emerging OF prospects coming. Charlie Blackmon is nearing retirement, and Kris Bryant would be the next logical DH, leading to Bellinger filling the future opening at 1B.

Given how the Bryant signing has worked out, it's very hard to imagine Colorado jumping to sign Bellinger.

Say something awesome about the Twins!

Their uniforms are outstanding.  And they're probably still the favorites to win the Central

It seems like Kodai Senga doesn't get the respect he would have if he were say on the Dodgers.  I would think if Yamamoto puts up a season anywhere near what Senga did, it would be considered a wild success.

The Mets' disappointing overall year swallowed up a lot of the good news in Queens, but Senga indeed had a tremendous rookie year

is it really that crazy to have Harrison/Hicks/Beck/Winn rotation to start the year. If all goes well it's approx 8 starts a piece as an audition to stay when Cobb returns. And then another 8 per til when Ray arrives. There are things to be said for internal competition. Feels like a developmental move, but one that has faith in the organization

Given how the Giants went with a patchwork rotation for so much of 2023, the strategy you outline isn't out of line for the team.  But....that's a lot of ifs within a rotation, and counting on Cobb and Ray to both be healthy and productive is also not a lot of certainty.

Adding even one more proven starter would add a lot more stability here, and put less pressure on the kids.

Who will the Twins sign out of Taylor, Pham, or Duvall? Or do they risk not taking Buxton insurance?
Mark P
9:22
Taylor or Duvall would make the most sense since they can play center field.  That said, I'm not sure if either player would be willing to accept a somewhat more limited role in the event that Buxton did stay healthy, since Minnesota has a somewhat crowded outfield on paper if everything breaks right
Maybe this increases the chance of Taylor returning, since he's been there already and has a better feel about whether or not things can "break right"

Do Padres have to wait until the season is over to resign HSK so that he does not count against this year’s cap? Seems like they want them and they are good at extending players but they do want to reset this year

A new contract that begins with the 2025 season wouldn't impact the Padres' books for 2024, or their present luxury tax situation.

That's two hours, so let's call it a wrap.  Thanks for all the questions, and there's more chattin' to come next weekend!
