Would you recommend we trade Adames and Airbender now or later? Or should we try to win the Central this season and see what happens?
Mark P
8:35
Try to win while you still have both. If Adames plays well enough, he can get a qualifying offer and the Brewers then at least get something back if/when he leaves.

You left Harold Ramirez out from the Guardians comment m. Do you think he’s moved?
Mark P
8:38
I was focusing more on hitters Cleveland has traded slightly more recently, but yeah, Ramirez was another mis-evaluation by the Guardians
Can never rule out the Rays making a deal at pretty much any point, but I'd lean towards Ramirez sticking in Tampa

Are you a pure Coka Cola guy or will you drink Pepsi?
Mark P

I drink both

Can you taste the difference between Coke, Coke Zero, and Diet Coke in a blind taste test? If so, does Coke taste just like Coke Zero as the commercial says?
Mark P
8:39
I like Coke and Zero, can't stand Diet Coke.

As a cards fan I feel they left the job unfinished.  I don’t hate any of the moves but seems incomplete
Mark P
8:41
If it was Gray, one of Lynn/Gibson, and then a third better pitcher, I'd also feel better about the St. Louis offseason.  If both Gibson and Lynn perform well I'm happy to eat my words, but both seem more like stopgaps rather than clear upgrades

Did this era of the Blue Jays peek already?
Mark P
8:43
It is a very unfortunate possibility that the best team of this Jays era was the 2021 roster that didn't even make the playoffs, since they were hamstrung by playing in Dunedin and Buffalo for most of the season.

Still think the DBacks should stay fluid with keeping payroll within long term range. Gallen probably looks fit mega deal. Extend Kelly a year or two. Trade Gallen to the Orioles. Gotta keep trading end of contract control talent, hitting on minor league players and promoting like the Rays when you don’t have deep pockets.
Mark P
8:47
Keep in mind that Phoenix is one of the biggest cities and markets in America, so technically, the D'Backs could or should have the capability to spend more.  And, to their credit, they are now running a club-record payroll in the aftermath of their NL pennant, even if their payroll is still middle of the pack in terms of the entire league.
8:48
It is quite possible Gallen doesn't stick in Arizona for the long haul, but the Diamondbacks aren't the Rays. Trading him now would seem like a real step backwards for a team that clearly wants to win again.

This will be season 9 for Shapiro and Aikins. Is this there last if the Jays don't win a playoff game?
Mark P
8:51
They won five playoff games in 2016, but I see your point.  If the Jays struggle to the point that they don't even reach the postseason, Atkins will definitely be feeling the heat and might well get fired.  If they make the playoffs but are a first-round out again, that might also still be enough to force a change, depending on circumstances

Sup Mark? Thanks for the chat. Alright, Zaidi's comments today seem like tradecraft, so what do you think the FO is more likely to do before Opening Day, trade or sign one of the top FA's left on the board? Whether trade or FA, who do you think it will be? Bonus question: Nirvana or Soundgarden?
Mark P
8:52
My prediction is that they'll sign Chapman or Snell.

Soundgarden is my choice, since (now here's a hot take) Nirvana is perhaps the most overrated band in music history.  Come at me, comments section!
No Angel questions?
8:54
Is it because the owner of the team just stated he is going to be around for a long time owning the team and so it's not even worth bringing up anything about them because they are going to have yet another pathetic season?
Mark P
8:55
Tough times for Angels fans.

The Yankees do enough to take down the O's?
Mark P
8:56
Bradish's health is now a big question mark, but I still have the Orioles ahead of the Yankees.  Since I had Baltimore winning the AL East even before the Burnes deal, I guess technically my thought process shouldn't change if the O's end up down a top-tier pitcher?

Will the A's get a new lease deal at the Oakland Coliseum? I think it's a win-win in the short term.
Mark P
8:58
Way too much about this situation still (impossibly) seems up in the air, given that Opening Day 2025 is just 13 months away.  My pick right now is that we'll get three years of the Sacramento A's, since there's just too much bad blood between Oakland and John Fisher

Where is Ryu going to land?
Mark P
9:01
Padres still stand out as a team with glaring rotation needs, and who don't seem likely to get involved late in the Montgomery/Snell markets.  The Giants, Pirates, Angels, maybe the Marlins if they deal a starter, and plenty of other teams could still stand to add a pitcher

Is Luis Campusano the catcher of the future for San Diego?

The phenom Ethan Salas is their catcher of the future

How crazy is it that, in 2025, Juan Soto will very likely be playing for his fourth team at the tender age of 26? I can't think of any other player like that.
Mark P

Diego Castillo is 26 and he's played for four teams in the last month

What are your season projections for Yamamoto?
Mark P
9:08
Certainly has to be one of (and maybe the) favourite for NL Rookie of the Year.  It's probably unfair that if he's anything less than that, he'll be considered by some as a "bust," even though a bit of struggles are perfectly normal for any player coming to MLB for the first time.

What would a fair and realistic CJ Abrams extension look like? Thanks.

If Moncada were to have a  big bounce back is there any chance they pick up the option?
Mark P
9:11
There's a much better chance the Sox would then shop Moncada at the trade deadline.  The option creates an interesting wrinkle for trade talks in the event that Moncada did happen to have a huge year, but since that is maybe a little far-fetched, it's probably safe to assume the option is just getting declined.
