The Braves hold a $16MM club option on Ozuna for the 2025 season, and if he keeps hitting like this, it seems to be a lock they'll exercise it

Do the Cards trade Goldschmidt, Arenado or Gray at the deadline?
Mark P
10:42
If STL falls out of it, Goldschmidt is a natural trade candidate since he's a free agent after the year.  Arenado and Gray are less likely, in part because if either are moved, that's a sign the Cardinals are going to rebuild rather than just try to reload again for 2025.

All three players have no-trade clauses, btw.  So that's another complication.

Once healthy will the Twins move up in the AL Central?
Mark P
10:43
Like I said earlier, the AL Central is thin enough that there's still tons of time for Minnesota to get healthy and get on track.

Kirk as been bad since before all-star break last year. How about Varsho behind the plate as picking up a left fielder (Pham) easier than a catcher.
Mark P
10:44
Moving Varsho to catcher would be a waste of Varsho's defense, which is his best asset right now.  I don't disagree that Kirk has looked pretty lost at the plate, and Danny Jansen's health is suddenly one of the biggest factors in Toronto's season.

james wood up by June 1st?
Mark P
10:46
Still just 11 games under his belt at Triple-A, but yeah, it certainly looks like Wood is more than ready for the big leagues.

Already attended two!

Chances that Sacramento can steal the A’s from Vegas and Oakland?  Got to be better than 10 percent if they consistently sellout. Sactown has diehard fans as shown with the Kings.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is Vivek Ranadive's secret plan, though there's no indication that John Fisher is considering selling the A's.

Braves lifer here and headed to a Royals-O’s game at the K — Who’s dugout do I sit behind and why?
Mark P
10:52
I'd base that decision on the direction of the sun, given that I always love sitting in the shade.

Mets really the favorites to sign Soto this off-season?
Mark P
10:53
I don't know about "favourites," but the idea is that Cohen will again start spending after a year of building.  Since the Mets are one of the relatively few teams that can afford Soto's gigantic salary demands, they'll naturally be involved.

The chat has technically run for close to three hours now, so hopefully this makes up for all those interruptions spent on, you know, writing MLBTR posts and doing my job and stuff.  Thanks so much for everyone's questions both before and after the interruptions, and we'll be back with another (hopefully more stable) chat next week!

If you're interested in more baseball Q&A, one of the many benefits of our Trade Rumors Front Office subscription is the exclusive weekly live chats. The more limited field means you're about 10 times more likely to get a question answered, as opposed to battling for space with hundreds of other questions in today's chat. For more on our memberships, check out this link:
