Should the Jays think about selling Berrios?
Mark P
9:22
Berrios has an opt-out after 2026, but is otherwise signed through 2028.  The Blue Jays are only moving him if they're blowing things up entirely, rather than just retooling with an eye towards contending in 2025.

What would it take for the Pirates to acquire Luis Roberts?
Mark P
9:25
Assuming Robert returns from the IL fully healthy and he gets back to his 2023 form, I'd expect the White Sox to start off asking about Skenes or Jones as the headliner of a Robert trade package.  Once the Pirates stop scoffing, the White Sox probably then ask for Johnson, Solometo, and any other top-100 types of guys in Pittsburgh's system beyond the big two pitchers.
9:26
The Sox will be looking to make a huge score on a Robert trade, naturally, and I doubt the Pirates are willing to more or less clean out the system for one guy.

Strider should be good to go at the beginning of next year right?  Full workload or close.
Mark P
9:29
Probably by mid-to-late April if all goes well with the rehab.  Internal brace surgeries are a little harder to predict since they're still a relatively new procedure, plus the fact that Strider has already undergone a Tommy John surgery in the past might also factor into things

I know Bochy doesn’t want to send him down, but what would you do with Evan Carter?
Mark P
9:30
If Jung and Langford were both healthy, I wonder if Texas would've sent Carter to Triple-A for a brief tune-up already. But, with the big league roster a little undermanned, they're sticking with Carter for now.

Bieber returns to Cleveland on a 1+1 type deal... to regain his value ?
Mark P
9:32
It would be interesting to see the Guardians try that strategy since a Woodruff-type of deal for Bieber is technically within their budget.
My guess is that Bieber does sign that type of contract with someone this winter, but 50-50 whether it'll be the Guards

What are the Cubs going to do about their hitting slump - just rude it out? They can't be serious about trying to win with that anemic lineup?
Mark P
9:34
As noted earlier about the Giants, the Cubs are still in pretty decent shape thanks to the NL's overall weakness.  So they can ride out this just about team-wide slump as long as it's just a slump and some guys heat up eventually....but it has also been two months.  Trades or more aggressive moves to add hitting is also tricky since so much of the Cubs lineup is already pretty established
Thank You

Since it's Memorial Day weekend here in the States, I'd just like to thank those who gave their lives for us.

On that admirable note, let's wrap up tonight's chat.  Thanks for all of your questions, and as it turns out, we're ending just as the game is getting underway in St. Louis!
