Ideally it would be with a club he's never played with before, so he could tie Edwin Jackson's record for most teams.  But, I suspect this odd record probably isn't as important to Hill as pitching for a winning team.

GM Ben Cherrington has to be on the hot seat, no? Poorly ranked farm system with a few decent arms but really no offensive help coming. Is the issue really as simple as ownership not opening the checkbook?
Mark P

The emergence of Skenes and Jones is a step forward for the Bucs, even if questions certainly need to be asked about the rest of the roster.  Definitely understand why Pittsburgh fans are frustrated in waiting for the team to really start winning, but there's light at the end of the tunnel.  I don't think Cherington is in any big trouble of being fired.

Is Cleveland’s recent performance a reason for concern?
Mark P
9:46
As we've seen with the Dodgers, Phillies, Braves, etc., good teams are bound to have a cold stretch at some point.  The Guardians' rotation is a big enough weak link that they should be worried if there's any offensive dropoff, or if the bullpen is anything less than spectacular.

I still like Cleveland's chances but they'll definitely be feeling the heat from KC and Minnesota.  That's the fun of a pennant race, right?

When am I plugging C Moore into my lineup?
Jim

Do the Angels bring up Christian Moore this year?
Mark P
9:48
I realize Moore is shredding up the minors with video game numbers, but it wouldn't hurt the Angels to just let a prospect develop normally, for a change.

Are the tigers gonna be good anytime soon? Doesn’t seem like they’ve made much progress in the two years Harris as been here.
Mark P
9:51
In fairness to Harris, he took over a team with a lot of problems.  I personally though the Tigers would be better than they've been this season, but better hitting is the big need to finally get the club on track

Is DeGRom gonna pitch meaning less games in September ?
Mark P

JDG seems to be on pace to pitch this year, and I'm sure he'd love to get some innings under his belt just to clear any doubts over his health going into 2025.

Have you been to the coliseum? Is it worth a visit before it closes? There’s so much beauty in the game of baseball and I truly think a “bad” stadium has things that will be missed and can be treasured.
Mark P
9:55
I can't say I was particularly wowed by the Coliseum in comparison to other ballparks I've seen, but it's a decent place to watch a game.  I'd recommend going just for the sake of completeness, since the A's are leaving town so soon

What needs fixed more for the Twins ( currently and in the future) , their rotation or their bullpen?    Are they in trouble because of money?
Mark P
9:56
The answer to this question for any team is the rotation, since reliable starters are harder to find than reliable relievers.  Losing Ryan for possibly the rest of the year is a tough loss for the Twins, and one that can't be really made up in any easy way.

Going forward, the payroll should continue to be an issue until there's any more resolution about their next broadcasting contract.

Are there going to be any waiver wire moves this August? Or was it a one year trend with Angels trying to get under CBT ax threshold?
Mark P
9:58
Probably not to the wild extent that the Angels did, but we'll definitely see some teams waive contracts if they have some concerns over whether or not they'll get under the tax line

Beads or Bees?
Mark P

.....whoa.  Nobody has ever asked this simple variation on the trope before!

My pick is beads, since nobody's ever been stung by a bead.  Maybe emotionally, but not physically.

On that insightful note, it's time to wrap the chat for the night.  Thanks for all the questions, and more answers will be coming next week!
