The Cards have plenty of talent available and should be able to get good value back on a lot of their players.  Broadly, it seems like they'll be open to moving pretty much any veteran on a noteworthy contract, which makes them a very interesting team to monitor for a lot of other clubs that can't or won't make big splurges in free agency

New to baseball, which team is worth dedicating my fandom to? Want to avoid the top teams but also want to win.

I actually took this same approach when picking a favourite EPL team years ago, which is why I ended up settling on Fulham.  Now, I am a very, very casual Fulham supporter at best, but just randomly picking one of the best teams didn't seem very fun.

The good thing about baseball is that there's a lot more randomness involved, so any number of teams can get hot in the playoffs and win it all.  Depends on how you define a "top team" and whatnot, but jumping on, say, the Detroit bandwagon right about now might be fun.

Cora fired if things don't turn around in '25?

Nope. He just signed a new extension a few months ago.

Do the Braves keep Drake Baldwin this offseason or trade him for a controllable SS/starting pitcher?
Mark P

Probably more likely to keep him, depending on what happens with d'Arnaud
My guess is that d'Arnaud's option is exercised and Atlanta sticks with the Murphy/TDA pairing for another year, giving Baldwin more development time

JV back to Tigertown as a number 4 and mentor for such a young staff?

Verlander or Scherzer going back to Detroit as a veteran leader would be a very fun storyline.

What would be Soto’s contract ceiling if he played defense like, say, prime Kevin Kiermaier?
Mark P

He'd challenge or top Ohtani, without deferrals.  That's basically the answer to the question "what would Willie Mays earn if he was playing in the modern game"?
Thank you for the chat!

What do you think the Yanks look to do at 2B/3B?
Mark P

Jazz can play either position, so the Yankees have some leverage in looking at the market for either type of infielder.  Bregman doesn't seem likely and I doubt Gleyber is re-signed, so this is where I could see NYY bringing in a new infielder via trade.

Standing pat is also an option.  Chisholm plays one infield position, and they've still got LeMahieu in the mix and Cabrera/Peraza/Vivas

Best game/moment you’ve ever witness in person?

Non-baseball answer: the 2017 MLS Cup final, when Toronto FC won the championship.

Baseball answer: the Blue Jays' clincher over Texas in the 2016 ALDS.  This is 2016, mind you, not the Bautista bat flip game in 2015.
