If you could visit 1 NPB stadium which would it be?
Jeffrey Todd
2:43
I've been to two. Tokyo Dome was an amazing experience and you definitely should go if you can.
Not familiar with them more broadly, but also went to Yokohama. More of a minor league atmosphere for sure, but still great.

For all the years that gagne was out of the major leagues was he tested for steroids
Jeffrey Todd
2:44
No, but I hope for his sake he wasn't using them that whole time.

Do you like the Statcast data?
Jeffrey Todd
2:47
I haven't used it a lot in writing for the site, but that's not b/c it's not all exciting. Just that I tend to defer to the experts in matters I'm not strongly versed. Very interested to see how it develops in public analytics.

When are we going to start hearing people talk about Yoshitomo Tsutsugo? He's 25, hits left handed, plays multiple positions, and had a monster 2016 in Japan.
Jeffrey Todd
2:48
Isn't this the dude someone asked me about last week? I mean, I saw him launch some balls in the WBC, so I'm intrigued. But guessing he's a few years away from being a posting candidate.

Does Ohtani come over next year ? and who does he sign with
Jeffrey Todd
2:48
Similarly, rules are in the way of that happening.
Jim
2:49
Do you like the Kiermaier extension?
Jeffrey Todd
2:50
Seems sensible, yeah. He's a solid everyday guy right now. Didn't get as cheap a price as the Phils/Braves got for their CFs, but you can't just look at contract comps b/c there's a huge element of what players/agents are willing to do. And TBR seems to think there's more bat in the tank.

Read a article connecting Longoria to the braves is this something that can happen
Jeffrey Todd
2:51
There are lots of things that people suggest because they think it makes sense. I've heard no reason to think anything like that is in the works. Rays don't seem to be looking to deal him right now.
2:52
Looking ahead a bit ... he just seems like too big a risk (contract/prospects) for ATL to take at this point, given his age. But I could imagine there being a match at some point before he gets his 10/5 rights.
Could say same of lots of other teams, too.

So what your saying is that Wacha will be Wacha. Solid first half and fade because of shoulder fatigue in the second half.
Jeffrey Todd
2:53
Definitely not saying that will happen. I'm saying I can't see inside his shoulder, and that even those who can probably don't know how it'll hold up. But it's promising what he's shown thus far, from what I've read.
Justino
2:53
Yes, I asked about him last week and you said you would look into it. Was curious what your thoughts were. If there were more info on his posting status, that would be helplful as well. Love the chats, keep up the good work Jeff.
Jeffrey Todd
2:54
Yes, I do need to go dig on that more. Thanks!

Shouldn't the Red Sox be trying to hammer out extensions for Betts & Bogaerts or is it still too early to consider...
Jeffrey Todd
2:54
Not too early at all to try. It's so situation-dependent, though, and the little signals we've seen haven't suggested that either team or those players are looking to push this spring.

Do you know anything about fangraphs' fantasy, Ottoneu? Recommend it?
Jeffrey Todd
2:55
Haven't done it myself, but seems awesome and I do love their fantasy coverage when I need to cheat in the MLBTR league!

What do you predict for Scherzer with his finger injury?
Jeffrey Todd
2:56
Seemed to have a good outing today and he's going to throw in a real fake game soon. Said he's comfy again with his regular 2-finger fastball grip.
The fact that he was pitching with a 3-finger fastball grip is pretty awesome and very Scherzeresque, tho.

Pineda's got some of the best sabermetrics out there. Think he could pull through with a 3.60 ERA 190 Ks?
Jeffrey Todd
2:57
That's only partially true. The K/BB numbers are great, so FIP loves him. But some of the other peripherals aren't so rosy and he gives up loads of good contact. Yet another example of why you can't just look at one single ERA estimator (or ERA itself).
(Not suggesting you're doing that, just noting.)
Brendan
2:58
Loved the recent Tim Dillard piece. Any chance of him coming aboard as a regular kind of like Badenhop did last season?
Jeffrey Todd
2:58
Don't know the exact plans, but I know there is more to come. Got a great reaction -- I really enjoyed it.
Brian
2:58
Really? Ervin Santana and not Quintana as your answer?
Jeffrey Todd
2:58
Aren't we tired of talking about Q yet? Maybe he gets dealt before the season. Just was throwing a name out there.
Matt M
2:59
is your bracket busted yet?
Jeffrey Todd
2:59
Was that today?! Darn!
I don't do the hoops anymore. Did love the bracket as a young man, though.

What impact would Quintana have on the Orioles rotation?
Jeffrey Todd
2:59
Well he'd be their best pitcher, but I don't see how they'd get him really.
