Could the Jays get Bohm from the Phillies if they took on Walker or Castellanos’ contracts?
Mark P
8:49
I suspect Dombrowski might drive Bohm to the airport himself if another team offered to entirely absorb either of those contracts.
8:50
But if you're the Jays, such a move isn't worth it.  Walker might be interesting if the Jays have faith that Pete Walker can fix him, or if the Phillies eat a good chunk of Walker's contract

Devers is paid a LOT of money for someone who can’t field his position. Anyone willing to take on that contract in a blockbuster?
Mark P
8:52
Wouldn't this be a wild scenario, eh?  Devers doesn't have any no-trade protection in his contract, so there's nothing technically preventing such a deal from happening besides....well, the fact that such a deal is very very unlikely.

Should AZ trade Montgomery or just hold and wait for the usual injury to a starter to happen?
Mark P
8:55
Even if Monty is moved, the D'Backs have six starters in Burnes, Gallen, E-Rod, Kelly, Nelson, and Pfaadt.  So they're still okay for depth even in the basically inevitable event that someone gets hurt.

They did deplete from their depth a little by moving Cecconi to Cleveland in the Naylor trade, but I don't think that'll stop Arizona from moving Montgomery for the right offer

Angels finally ship Trout to the Phillies? Sounds crazy but the Halos have interest in Alonso and to afford him the Phillies could help them out. Interest from the Phillies has been rumored for years. A possibility?[
Mark P
8:58
Beyond the hometown hero and Trout's big name, would the Phillies really have much interest in such a move?  They'd need to unload some contracts to keep Trout's contract from putting their tax number through the roof, and all that finagling would bring them...a 33-year-old who has had trouble playing in even half the games in a season

Are there any rumors of why the Mariners didn't bring Josh Rojas back? Given the options available at third (that they'd be willing to pay for), his relatively small contract, and their reluctance to spend anything, seems like maybe there's something else?
Mark P
9:01
Rojas is versatile and a good defender, but he also didn't hit much last year.  The Mariners might feel they can replace him with a player with more upside, or find someone else with Rojas' skillset at a lesser cost

The Tigers would gladly help out the Marlins by giving them Baez.
Mark P
9:05
I'm sure any number of teams would be lining up for salary dumps if the Marlins let it be known that they were open to such trades.  But, taking on $23MM for one season can be achieved by just taking on an unfavorable one-year contract, not a multi-year commitment like Baez's remaining deal.

Detroit could still eat a good chunk the contract to accommodate a trade.  Baez also has a 10-team no-trade list, for what it's worth
Dolan out some cash.
9:06
Is Cleveland really going to bet on a bunch of unproven bats (albeit talented) after such a great season or is Dolan going to open his wallet to Winker, Polanco, *clears throat* Santander?  This offseason seems strange even for Cleveland.
Mark P
9:08
Santander is out of the Guardians' price range.  Winker isn't an ideal fit since the Guards already have a bunch of left-handed bats, but a Randal Grichuk would be a better idea

Heard some rumblings of Casas still being floated in trade packages? Any validity?
Mark P
9:09
Despite Breslow's comments the other day, the Sox are almost surely still open to moving Casas.  Breslow perhaps loses some leverage if he admitted Casas was available, or perhaps it creates awkwardness if Casas ended up not being dealt

Lions or Vikings!?
Mark P
9:10
I have a hard time picking against the Lions at home, but I think the Vikings will hurt that depleted defense

What’s the hold up with Bregman? Is it years? … and is he heading to Detroit?
Mark P
9:11
It feels like teams aren't willing to meet his asking price, so it's just a matter of Bregman budging, or a team bumping up their offer.
RANGERS
9:13
Have the Rangers any interest in one year for Verlander?
Mark P
9:13
You'd think Scherzer would have more appeal to Texas in that scenario since they're more familiar with him, and both pitchers will probably end up signing similar contracts
Cardinals
9:14
Since the Cardinals are doing a "reset" this year, shouldn't they be shopping Fedde for prospects?
Mark P
9:15
The most recent report on Fedde suggested that they want to move him closer to the deadline.  Not sure necessarily why they wouldn't want to trade him sooner rather than later, unless STL hasn't given up hopes of contending

You're Pete Alonso. Would you choose: 3/90 (high AAV), 4/113 (still breaking that 1B record), 5/125 (of MLBTR fame), or 6/135 (just shy of that extension offer)?
Mark P
9:16
Kind of depends on which team is making the offers, right?  Perhaps Alonso might give the Mets a slight hometown discount, or perhaps he'd need an overpay to join other certain teams

9:20
What do you make of the Santander to the Yankees? If not him who else do they add via trade or free agency?
Mark P
9:21
I don't see the Yankees giving up the two draft picks/$1MM of int'l bonus money to sign another qualified free agent, unless Santander's market cratered and they got him at a bargain price

Any obvious trade partners for Wilyer Abreu? I can't see Boston keeping Anthony blocked, and I would think he'd be in competition in spring training especially if it could bring back an extra draft pick if he's rookie of the year.

Os should grab Scherzer and or Verlander?
Mark P
9:27
I wonder if the Orioles are considering a trade that would see them package two of their pitchers for one pitcher who's more of a frontline guy.  After signing Morton, Baltimore technically has a surplus of arms, and they could conceivably try to leverage that into landing what they really need, which is a pitcher who is a clearcut Game 1 starter in a playoff series.

This doesn't answer your question, lol, but my broader point is that signing Scherzer or JV doesn't solve the Orioles' rotation need

9:28
Do you think it's possible that the Giants and Padres link up on a Cease trade? I personally think it's highly unlikely that either team would want to trade within their division, helping the other team improve.
