Are you asking me who was more important to their former sport, or ... ? Jordan is the greatest basketball player ever, retired while still the best player in the game, and then came back. I mean ...

do you ever wish your name was Todd Jeffrey and you played tennis?
Jeffrey Todd
2:40
That's my alter ego. He's a Welshman who topped out at 197th on the ATP.

What happens with TOR's 1B and LF situations? Is there a piece still out there for an upgrade on either?
Jeffrey Todd
2:41
I think they are pretty well set, and I don't mind it. Smoak is the least ideal piece, but they obviously believe in the bat to some extent.

2:42
Do you see the trend away from long contracts for older players will work into the possibility of the Jays resigning Donaldson before he goes to F A?
Jeffrey Todd
2:43
Is there really a trend away from promising lots of money to guys as they get old, though? Greinke, Cabrera, Price have received huge deals that run through late career. Lots of other older guys have earned pretty big money on shorter deals (VMart, Cruz, Zobrist).

Why do you Think MLB is waiting so long to suspend Familia? Think there is any chance he skates??? I don't but I am curious
Jeffrey Todd
2:45
I'm honestly not sure at all what the league's reasoning is for its timing, but it has certainly taken its time in the past with some cases -- esp Reyes but also Chapman. I don't see any reason to read more into it here. Or to think he won't get something.

2:46
I know you can't read in to ST numbers and he does have a history of showing signs of turning a corner only to quickly regress, but should I give Chris Marrero a shot on the big league roster as 5th OF/ PH? He has been mashing this spring
Jeffrey Todd
2:46
Well, they seemed to be leaning to Morse. But they also went out and got Marrero as soon as they were able. So they obviously had targeted him. In this case, assuming their scouting look backs up the numbers, maybe the spring performance does matter a fair bit.
2:47
Obviously SFG decided to compete 1 or 2 bench jobs with all those veterans. To an extent it was about creating flexibility depending upon how other moves turned out, I'm sure, but they probably also wanted to see how guys look.

What are the odds that the Padres trade for Pablo Sandoval?
Jeffrey Todd
2:48
Nope
Sorry just had to watch this and share it with ya'll.
So good.

2:49
Why do I keep hearing about the Padres being linked to Cozart and Iglesias? They have no use for rental players, even if they do play shortstop.
Jeffrey Todd
2:49
Well, "no use" is a bit strong. Teams spend money to fill out their rosters with veterans. I'm sure they aren't going to give up a young player they really like, but ...
2:50
Plus Iglesias has another arb year.

Angels bullpen is a bag of flaming hot garbage

This may be, but that's the easiest flame to put out in baseball.

What did you think about Ian Kinsler's comments about the difference between US-born players and players from PR or DR?
Jeffrey Todd
2:52
They were taken to say more than they did because the internet is what it is. He didn't mean anything negative so far as I can tell, and seemingly spoke quite well on the topic in an interview today.
2:53
I'm running low on questions I want to answer ... throw some poll ideas at me?

define "what's necessary" lol
Jeffrey Todd

Well, yeah ... let's take that to mean something like, pay something more than they really feel he's worth.
I hate pagan/Quintana questions

Surprise opening day roster additions?
Jeffrey Todd

Looks like this Senzatela dude is going to be in the Rockies rotation. They optioned Hoffman.

Did Profar rebuild his trade value at all during the WBC?
Jeffrey Todd
2:56
No. Teams have seen a lot of him. That short stint didn't matter much. (Plus ... that pick-off. Oof.)

How much would Bumgarner command on the open market today?
Jeffrey Todd
2:58
Had he been a FA this past winter at 27 years of age ... could've neared or even cracked $300MM.
Sam
2:59
Speaking of Profar, why haven't the Rangers traded him?
Jeffrey Todd
3:00
I just don't think other teams are willing to give up a ton to get him. He hasn't established himself in the majors yet, there's the whole shoulder thing still to worry about, and only has 3 years of control. So it makes more sense at this point for TEX to hold onto the upside and take advantage of his flexibility.

When will the Cardinals trade Matt Adams and will they be able to get anything of value for him?
Jeffrey Todd

That ship has sailed. Plus, I want to see him play OF!
