Er, take that side of it (the line).
Good example of just letting a phrase tumble out of your mouth/hands when it doesn't really make sense.

With the moves the NYY haven't made is that a signal that Cashman and Girardi are gone next year?
Jeffrey Todd
2:20
I don't think so.
Sid
2:20
Who do you like in the AL west?
Jeffrey Todd

Has Yankees 1b Bird been underestimated by the pundits?
Jeffrey Todd
2:20
Could be, but spring games aren't the measure.

What do you think of Steve Pearce?
Jeffrey Todd
2:21
This is a good opportunity to acknowledge my love for the guy. I just feel like he's underrated despite the fact that he always produces and plays all over. Injuries, yes, that's an issue. But some aren't really of the chronic/repeat variety. So, I was a big fan of that signing for TOR.
WBC
2:22
Do you envision the WBC ending up on a national network next time out? At least the finals and USA games maybe?
Jeffrey Todd
2:22
With the staid US team winning over a bouyant PR club, and other very colorful teams with huge stars involved, they should be able to market the heck out of the next one.
Matt
2:23
With the injury to Ian Desmond does the J. Abreu to Colorado rumor from earlier in the offseason heat up again?
Jeffrey Todd
2:23
No, for lots of reasons. #1 being the Rox can't just tack on that kind of salary.
Tim
2:24
What team do you think will catch people off guard and contend this year?
Jeffrey Todd
2:24
I feel like the Angels have some upside and have perhaps been prematurely scratched off in some quarters.
Jeff Francouer
2:25
The Braves need help on their bench, why aren't they signing me?
Jeffrey Todd
2:25
Well, they say they want someone who can play center. And Francoeur is just such a limited player.
Robbie
2:27
How do you think the Brewers should deal with Junior Guerra
Jeffrey Todd
2:28
Well, the little elbow thing probably impacted the possibility of trading him this winter. And he's so danged controllable that ... why not keep him? If you aren't getting a really nice piece in return, which probably would've been asking too much, then why punt him? Plus they'd just be opening another rotation hole.
They are, as they should, letting the guy go out and pitch. I'm sure if teams bring offers this summer they'll listen.

Does Iglesias's shower injury change the Reds plan for the 9th inning role to start the year at all?
Jeffrey Todd
2:29
Not clear from anything I've seen that we know enough about the prognosis there.
Rob

Think there could be a recently-retired league started up if Ice Cube's BIG 3 (NBA) is successful? 6 inning games, etc.? Bring in Wally Backman, Terry Bevington, and Charlie Manuel to manage. Players could be Carl Crawford, Ryan Howard, Cliff Lee, Heath Bell, etc.
Jeffrey Todd

Xtreme Softball?
2:31
I dunno, the 3-man post-NBA thing seems to be a cleaner fit. (It sounds pretty great, fwiw. Also love the idea of dudes who kind of blew their shot at the NBA getting a chance at redemption.)

I really hope the Tribe can extend Lindor. Do you think that 6/ $75 would get it done at this point?
Jeffrey Todd
2:33
You'd have to set some records and that would do it. But even assuming the team would do it, it comes down to whether Lindor and his reps would bite. He could just say "no, I'd only be interested at [way more]"
2:34
Point there is only to say that extensions are a much higher-variable situation than, say, a free agent who's just pretty much going where he's paid most.
Adam Goldberg

What can the Mets do to fix their problems at catcher? I believe they need to move on from T.d'Arnaud, He cant throw anyone out trying to steal, that puts a toll on the pitching staff and infielders when thay get opposing runners on. its like a track meet when somebody gets on base
Jeffrey Todd
2:35
Well, it's too late now. He's getting another chance to sink or swim.
Pat

Dodgers still have a spot on the 40 man. Should we read much into that?
Jeffrey Todd
2:35
The organization (like all of them) is always playing around at the fringes. Doesn't suggest anything in particular to me.
Angel Pagan
2:37
ok thisis getting stupid...why am i still unsigned?
Jeffrey Todd
2:37
It's pretty straightforward. He has a level of pay/opportunity that he has kind of stood on. No team has met it yet. Unless/until a team does, or he bends, he'll be out I guess.
Cookie Monster

Do you think that Peter O'brien should be starting left fielder for the Royals to start the season?
Jeffrey Todd
2:39
Not really. But he could be a part of a corner OF/DH rotation with Orlando and Moss.
