The poll included the six teams who finished last in their divisions in 2024
Mets OMG!!
6:42
The Mets have to sign iglesias right?!! I mean you can’t have OMG on another team. OMG is in the HOF! He was a huge part of the mets motivation and run. They should continue it the fans loved it. Hard to see that go.
Mark P
6:44
As much as Iglesias was a fan and clubhouse favorite, the Mets are probably correct in assuming that his BABIP-fueled 2024 season was a fluke.

Now, is Nick Madrigal going to necessarily be much better, and does Madrigal have remotely the intangible value that Iglesias does?  Probably not.  But (and this is just speculative on my part), maybe Iglesias wanted some kind of guaranteed deal, whereas Madrigal was open to a split contract
Isn’t Plan B better?
6:45
Best guess… how does the Vladdy saga play out?
Mark P
6:45
He's playing for another team in 2026.
Robert Jr.
6:46
Do the Pirates trade for me and what would it cost?
Mark P
6:48
The White Sox are asking for a lot for Robert, so I can see them asking for something like Jones plus one of the other top pitching prospects as a starting offer.  Then, falling back to a more "modest" offer of just Chandler and Harrington, or maybe one of the pitchers and Termarr Johnson as the headliners of a trade package.
6:49
Now, do I think Pittsburgh would be open to such a trade?  Doubtful.  Robert's rough 2024 season has lowered his trade value to the point that the Bucs or any other team will surely be wary about paying full price on him.

Randal Grichuk to the Rays...marinate on that Mark
Mark P
6:50
As a complement to Aranda or Lowe?  I can see it
Fred Saskamoose
6:51
Due the proximity of Tampa and the fact that MLB hasn't exactly thrived in Florida, is there any chance  Orlando would ever get a team ?  I could see it happening if Tampa Bay moved but not as an expansion candidate.
Mark P
6:52
A third Florida team would be a tough sell, I agree. Orlando's bid might be trying to position themselves as a fallback spot for the Rays if the stadium deal in St. Pete falls through.
Luis Arraez
6:52
Am I one of the most undervalued/under appreciated players in the game?
Mark P
6:53
Enough people either vastly overrate Arraez or vastly underrate him that I think it almost works out evenly
Royals
6:56
Are the Royals going to add a bat? Via trade or free agency
Mark P
6:57
Their bid on Santander indicates that they're willing to stretch the budget to add a bat, so I wouldn't rule out a free agent splurge of some sort
Ken
6:58
Are you surprised the Cards haven't moved Gray?
Mark P
6:58
Gray doesn't want to waive his no-trade clause, so the Cardinals' hands are tied
Charlie Morton's Birth Certificate
6:58
Oops, I meant to include this: If the O's make a trade for a starter, is it for a Padre 🧑🏼‍🎄, a Mariner 🔱, or a Pirate 🦜?
Mark P
6:58
Cease to Baltimore makes a lot of sense

Lawrence butler is going to have a monster season
Mark P
7:00
He flew under the radar a bit, but with Butler's power, he might tear it up hitting at a Triple-A ballpark in Sacramento
Brian
7:01
What are the chances the Cubs extend Tucker?
Mark P
7:03
Leaning towards no, just because the Cubs haven't shown the appetite for spending on that kind of a mega-contract.  Maybe they stretch if they think Tucker is a special player worth the investment, but if he hits the open market, I'm not sure the Cubs win a bidding war
TBJ Pitching Coach
7:03
I think the best part of Max Scherzer signing with the Jays is Yaril Rodriguez moving to the bullpen where I think he can be a very effective once through the order multi inning reliever, what say you?
Mark P
7:04
Agreed, there's some solid upside.  Feels like this was basically the Blue Jays' plan all winter, and it was just a case of what new starter would bump Y-Rod to the pen.
Big Dombo
7:05
Phils done with moves?
Mark P
7:05
I feel like I've written "no, feels like Dombrowski had another notable transaction in him" for weeks now, and here we are on February 2nd.
So what the heck, it STILL feels like the Phillies aren't done just yte
yet
JAZ
7:06
can’t avoid “are the Mets going to re-sign Alonso” question right?
Mark P
7:06
Sure can't!  This still seems like the likelier scenario, even if it's by a 51-49 margin
PATigrrsFan

Guys have been hitting baseballs for 20 years by the tome they reach the majors. How can so many be so bad at it?  What in bloody heck does a hitting coach do?
Mark P
7:08
Hitting Major League pitching is far, far, far harder than hitting pitching at any other level.
Giant Gonzales
7:09
Is there a reason that Red Sox fans (outside of myself) think that trading away Casas somehow solves a problem instead of making a hole in the 4 spot in the lineup?
Mark P
7:10
Most Sox fans have a Casas trade as step one of a process that sees Devers move to 1B, and then Bregman or Arenado slotted into third base.
Joh
7:11
Who has a better chance at going to the hall? Goldschmidt or Arenado.
Mark P
7:11
I think both get in, but Arenado is the likelier of the two because of the defensive resume
Right Field Rob
7:11
Why spend the $$ on Adames and then not upgrade rest of lineup?  Destined for 4th?
Mark P
7:12
It's not like the Giants haven't tried to make other moves, in fairness.  But I agree that their lineup still seems pretty underwhelming, even with Adames and presumably a full and healthy year from Lee.
