Would seem a fairly safe record.
I assume this is real, b/c if it was fake, it would probably be a much cooler name, like Highpoint McMullin.
Or maybe that's just what coaxed me into believing it ...

Are Profar and Gallo talented players whose careers have been harmed by the Rangers' reluctance to advance and play them?
Jeffrey Todd
2:40
The Rangers weren't shy about throwing Mazara and Odor in there.

What is average parking price for MLB?
Jeffrey Todd
2:41
Too much. Take public transportation.
Wait .... is there public transportation out there? Not a fan of suburban parks, personally.

Will Ryne Sandberg get another shot managing in the major leagues?
Jeffrey Todd
2:42
Given the way it ended, and his general enthusiasm level for the job ... I'd bet against it.

Girardi seems to be at a slight risk with the new direction of the org wouldn't you agree?
Jeffrey Todd
2:42
Possible. But more likely they'd not pursue a new deal after the year than fire him mid-season, I'd guess.

What's the prevalence of the manager / GM combo in MLB? Do managers spend much time in the war room these days?
Jeffrey Todd
2:44
Different team to team, I think. Seems that, say, Buck Showalter is fairly involved. I suspect most of them have a voice of some kind in player decisions, esp in the season, but I tend to view the manager as an extension of the front office with responsibilities for in-game and MLB talent management. Others have primary responsibility for evaluating who to put on the roster and even in large part how they should be used.
Erik

He actually allowed 510 runs total that season
Frank

Most innings pitched in 1958. Spahn 290. Thanks for playing Jeffrey.

My knowledge of baseball minutiae is hardly encyclopedic, sorry.

What happens when Wally Pipp, er I mean Ian Desmond comes back?
Jeffrey Todd
2:45
34yo Reynolds doesn't seem a perfect analogue for Gehrig, but ...

any tips to become a sports writer?
Jeffrey Todd
2:46
Y'know, I spoke to a law school class recently and I told them essentially this: Pursue something you actually, really are interested in and know about. It's pretty easy to tell when someone is BS'ing their way through a topic when they don't have those things.

Btw you just missed having to go head to head with Klawchat!
Jeffrey Todd
2:47
This is our standard time. Keith is obviously scared of the head to head match up. BRING IT LAW!

oof

Nothing quite like riding the subway/metro/whatever to a game with a whole pack of fans, even when it is delayed and overpacked and sucky.

What's the best part of your job? I eventually wanna become a sports writer any tips
Jeffrey Todd
2:49
See above on the latter. As for the former, obviously I love and enjoy baseball. Best part for this stage of my life -- young kids and lots of interest in other things -- is that I get to work from home and have the ability to modify my schedule as need be (because Steve and I help each other out, along w the other guys).

Jeff - disagree with your Girardi comment. The rumors in the circle here is Girardi will walk away from the managers job to watch his kid play!
Jeffrey Todd
2:50
Not sure how that is in conflict with what I said, but ok.

Speaking of... What happened to all of the good baseball names; i.e. Skippy, Babe, Farmer, Hack, Tug, Tub, Tuffy??^^
Jeffrey Todd
2:51
Gorkys, Bartolo, Hipalito, Mookie.
Just a few I enjoy ...
Frank

The Rangers weren't shy about throwing Mazara and Odor in there. Oh, non-answer??
Jeffrey Todd
2:52
No, I was suggesting that they surely would have given more time earlier to Gallo if they thought he could handle it. They were going to with Profar before the massive injury; he's a different case altogether.
I thought that was fairly clear.

You are getting pelted with negativity today, so I figured this would be a nice time to say thank you for taking the time for these chats! I am sure the vast majority of us here all greatly appreciate that you share your thoughts with us regularly.
Jeffrey Todd

Thanks, but I'm not sensing much negativity. (Well, Frank did seem a bit testy.) Just good old fashioned banter.

Baseball is better now that David Ortiz is gone. Agree or completely agree?
