Salem Sox!
Jeffrey Todd
2:46
True, I do need to get out there ... lotta Red Sox talent has come through here in recent years.
M.J.
2:47
If Thames keeps up the pace beyond the All-Star break, what could the Brewers get for him, assuming they would decide to trade him?
Jeffrey Todd
2:47
I'm not convinced he'd be likely to be traded, with what MIL is trying to do, but man ... that contract could be immensely valuable if he keeps up anything like what he's doing presently.
2:48
Remember, too: Thames really isn't that old. Just 30.

If Miguel Gonzales stays healthy, could we get a decent prospect at the deadline for him?
Jeffrey Todd
2:50
It's possible, yeah. The guy has now been pretty danged successful outside of 2015, even if he's outperforming metrics all the while. He's a pure rental, and isn't likely to be pursued as a playoff rotation piece by a contender, but he's the type of arm that's dealt every summer.
Rox
2:51
Other than getting everyone healthy, what do the Rox need the most to make this start last?
Jeffrey Todd
2:52
They still need pitching. I mean, Bettis isn't coming back, and it was thin to begin with. Senzatela has been nice, but he isn't missing any bats. Ultimately, the odds these pitchers will get them through the season seem pretty low to me.
Cashman
2:53
Ellsbury is playing well... any chance i can move him and his contract? I have about 7 players in my organization with the same skillset as him and Gardner.
Jeffrey Todd
2:54
Sure, he'd be tradeable, esp if healthy and still producing come the summer. But if that's the case and the team is winning, why get rid of him? Yanks would have to take a bit hit on the contract to move him, no question.
2:55
I mean, I do agree it's a bit of a tough situation looking ahead. But CF isn't really accounted for, unless Aaron Hicks keeps this up perhaps. And if Ells is solid all year, can always move him at year end.
Torin
2:56
What's Brad Brach's value right now?
Jeffrey Todd
2:57
He was pretty awesome last year, too, so it hasn't changed all that much. But yes, very valuable guy and great find for the O's. They'll be keeping him, presumably, though.
Terry Collins
2:57
Confession: I've been secretly injuring my players.
Jeffrey Todd
2:57
It all makes sense.
Tom
2:57
Were we all wrong in declaring Ryan Zimmerman dead? Has he just been unhealthy?
Jeffrey Todd
2:58
Health. And the groundballs despite good exit velo numbers, as many noted last year. He's still a talented guy, obviously. We'll see whether he can keep his body in gear all year, though.
MLBTR
2:58
Jayson Stark is a free agent! MLBTR have any interest?
Jeffrey Todd
2:59
He is a talented guy, obviously, great track record. We are always interested in talent. But obviously I can't comment on a pending free agent! Ha.
Bob Melvin
3:00
How worrysome is Stephen Vogt's slow start?
Jeffrey Todd
3:01
Well, he wasn't all that great last year, so this doesn't help. And he's making tons of soft contact while also not walking. So ... fairly concerning, I'd say.
Doug Funny
3:02
What is your favorite chocolate/candy bar? The correct answer is Reese's btw
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
I won't disagree with that.
Dave
3:02
Giolito looks terrible. Lopez isn't doing so great, either. Eaton, on the other hand, is on fire. Did the White Sox get fleeced?
Jeffrey Todd
3:03
But Dunning is killing it! Who knows, man, it's a deal for prospects. I thought it was fair on paper. Too early to judge how it turns out in the aggregate.
Stock McPhoto
3:04
How much sense does Leonys make for the defensively-challenged A's OF?
Jeffrey Todd
3:04
Lotta cash to commit to a guy who has struggled so much. And obviously they agree since they (and every other team) passed on adding him.
Stock McPhoto
3:05
What kind of deal is Yonder Alonso looking at? If he ends the season with a .900 OPS, along with quality D and have one of the best clubhouse reps in the game: 50 mill?
Jeffrey Todd
3:06
He has a long way to go to warrant 50 million bucks. Metrics aren't in love with his glove more recently, fwiw.
Jeff
3:06
If the Royals do indeed have a fire sale then who do you see getting traded first?
Jeffrey Todd
3:07
Order would be dependent upon demand and when a deal happens to line up. But I can't see much reason for half measures. If they sell, should offload Cain, Moose, Hosmer, and Herrera (among others, possibly).
3:08
And the Mets are now in last place.
Woof.
Couple more quick ones ....
Kyle Schwarber's mom
3:09
70 years ago was Babe Ruth Day at Yankee Stadium. Where will we all be 70 years from now? I plan to be dead, but Kyle is going to be signing autographs at Cooperstown!
Jeffrey Todd
3:09
I mean, he might be dead too, but I applaud your optimism Miss Schwarbs.
Drew
3:09
If Yu is able to consistently go 7-8 innings and keep a 8-10 K/9. Is he going to get more than Arrieta?
Jeffrey Todd
3:10
Yeah. I kinda have him higher on my list just bc of the Arrieta velo drop. Though who knows if the Cubs are just putting a regulator on their pitchers?
BYOP
3:10
When you say Bettis isn't coming back, you just mean this year?
