I'm not entirely of the logistics of how they're called into the league office officially or whatever, but most three-team trades are essentially broken down as two two-team trades that involve quick flips.

The reason you don't see them every often is that it's very tricky to even get two sides to agree to a trade, let alone three sides

Warren and Yarbrough will be the odd men out once the Yankees' rotation is at full strength, though I guess I should write "if" they're fully healthy, given how the injury bug can strike at any time.

Warren has pitched better than Schmidt, and probably better enough that the Yankees would at least think about keeping Warren in the rotation.  But odds are, Warren is just moved into the pen as preparation for being a key innings-eater come playoff time

Sheets has a .330 BABIP, and he is actually both walking less and striking out more than he did in Chicago.  That being said, he is also making way more hard contact than he previous has in his career.

While some regression seems likely just because the metrics are a little skewed, there's enough substance here to suggest that Sheets can really unlocked something with the change of scenery

Gilbert is currently on the IL, and he plays for a Mariners team that is both a) in the postseason race, and b) has been very hesitant to deal from its rotation depth.  So Gilbert is almost surely not going to be available to the Cubs or anyone at the deadline, no matter how much of a push suitors might make

I'm on record as still believing that the Brewers will be in the playoff race, and as such, they'll need Hoskins to help boost a lineup that has been an overall disappointment

If Milwaukee is out of it at the deadline, however, Hoskins will be a prime trade chip if he keeps hitting like this.  He won't bring back a ton just because he's a rental player, but the Brewers would be able to land a decent prospect who's somewhere between "lottery ticket" and "top 100"
