I think the FF to third experiment will fizzle at some point and Adams will be dealt. Not sure whether that'll happen this summer or not.
Anthony
2:20
Are the Giants going to rebuild or retool during the trade deadline?
Jeffrey Todd
2:20
Excepting their best players, their big contracts aren't going to bring back value. It'd be eating money. I just can't see how they are going to do any kind of full rebuild this summer.
2:21
I think they need to make a few deals where they can and hope their evaluations weren't wrong when they made the deals they did. Lots of money on the books.
Matt
2:21
What type of return could the marlins receive for marcel ozuna?
Jeffrey Todd
2:21
Should be a very significant one or they shouldn't do it.
Mark
2:22
Are the Rockies done?
Jeffrey Todd
2:22
Odds-on fav for a WC spot still, so no.
Grant Findlen
2:22
The Astros need a lefty reliever, I would suggest going after Justin Wilson or Jerry Blevins
Jeffrey Todd
2:22
Attention Padres fans: Brad Hand isn't the only quality lefty available.
Oddball Herrera
2:23
Why wouldn't the Giants be willing to just trade Melancon for free?  He's already lost what was probably supposed to be one of the most valuable years on his contract, and I'm sure they could use the money elsewhere.
Jeffrey Todd
2:23
They should be, probably. But would another org take the contract, given the forearm issues?
And at what point do they just shrug and keep him, b/c they have to eat too much cash?
Positively Half St.
2:24
Are Michael A Taylor and Brian Goodwin now useful trade chips for the Nats, given their performance this year?
Jeffrey Todd
2:24
More likely they make a CF platoon the rest of the way and possibly even in 2018. (Eaton would move to LF in that scenario.)
2:25
Not sure there's a really good CF to be had in trade, honestly. Maybe Cutch but are the Nats really going to pay him for him? Not sure I'm convinced of that.

Will Matt Adams or Eric Hosmer be standing on me anytime soon?
Jeffrey Todd
2:26
Alonso and Duda seem a bit more likely to me.
Don't see KC selling at this point barring a total collapse.
Bret
2:27
I know it's no fun on MLBTR to argue a team should stand pat, but that seems likely logical for the Blue Jays, in my opinion. They don't have any significant trade chips - maybe Estrada? - other than Josh Donaldson, who I believe you'd get a lot more interest in when trading in the offseason. Agree or disagree?
Jeffrey Todd
2:28
I agree, unless they are totally buried at the deadline. Even then, won't they be looking to make a run next year? If so, how do you trade Donaldson?
If they do sell, though, Happ would be a candidate. Smoak as well. Perhaps even Bautista. (I know Osuna has been discussed, but I guess I don't see that barring a total teardown.)
Rox

What would a Charlie Blackmon extension look like ?
Jeffrey Todd
2:31
He is a bit older (closing in on 31) but it'd have to be big. One more year of arb control and it will be at a steep price. Value the FA years at over 20 mil ... I think he'd be asking for over 100.

Think Albies is heading out the door in exchange for an ace?
Jeffrey Todd
2:33
Not really. I think they'll be disinclined to move him, in particular, and I don't see how they'll manage to pull off a deal for a controllable arm. Other teams will/should be willing to pay higher prices b/c they'll be valuing the contribution down the stretch and into the postseason.
Rox
2:33
Edison Volquez an innings eating option for the Rockies come the deadline?
Jeffrey Todd
2:34
Durable, hard-throwing groundball pitcher. Sure, I could see that.
2:35
I still feel like they should aim higher, for a pitcher with control. Division is still in reach, though good luck catching the Dodgers. But a WC spot is in hand if they don't fall apart.
AJ
2:35
Who has the lowest trade value in baseball right now?
Jeffrey Todd
2:35
Negative trade value? Probably Pujols, off the top of my head.
Chris
2:36
Do you see Newcomb continuing his early success for the Braves?
Jeffrey Todd
2:37
Every reason to believe his walk rate is going to go up. If he's giving out 5+ free passes per nine, he won't be a top-level starter.  He still needs to show over a long stretch that he can stay in the zone.
Dave
2:38
Who are Detroits best trade pieces at this point?
Jeffrey Todd
2:38
JD Martinez and Justin Wilson. Then Verlander and Kinsler.
I mean, if JV turns in 5 ace-like starts in the next month, he could be a much bigger chip.
Rox
2:39
Ramiel Tapia for David Robinson who says no.
Jeffrey Todd
2:39
If the Rox give up Tapia it should be for a SP.
Pablo Sandoval

What happens to me when the Red Sox trade for someone else?
Jeffrey Todd
