Reed has been legitimately and  consistently awesome in NY.
Braves Phanatic

Is Jhouyls Chacin in the same boat as Cahill and Richard?
Jeffrey Todd
3:20
In that he's totally available and has added appeal b/c he's so cheap, yes. But the others are more desirable assets -- Cahill has  had some eye popping peripherals and Richard is a lefty who could play a role in the postseason from the pen.
Jenrry Mejia
3:20
I miss baseball.
Jeffrey Todd
3:20
Aww
Okay ... going to try a lightning round to finish this off. Tons of readers and questions today -- must be deadline time.
Justin Boger

Will the marlins trade martin prado
Jeffrey Todd
3:21
I'll guess yes.
Sonny Gray
3:21
Will I be traded for a 2 top 100 prospect
Jeffrey Todd
3:21
Yes ... but headliner won't be an elite guy.
Derek Jeter
3:21
If I miss out on the Marlins, what's the next team up for sale I could bid for?
Jeffrey Todd
3:22
The next one will likely cost even more. You need  to build up your capital base (Player's Tribune IPO?)
Pine Tar
3:22
Greg Holland looking at 4/ 80 next year?
Jeffrey Todd
3:22
Not quite. Age/injury will keep that a bit lower. Melancon-ish. He and Wade both.

Isn't "with respect to" much easier than typing "w/r/t"?
Jeffrey Todd
3:23
srsly?
It's a chat.

What is more likely? Braves get lockdown Ace, or Nationals get lockdown closer? If both of these things happen. Could it be a tight race at the end of the season and the NL East? If the Braves can gain one game a week for the rest of the season. They could surprise a lot of people and win then division. Is that likely in a sense
Jeffrey Todd
3:23
The Braves likely wouldn't hunt down the Nats if they added Kershaw.
Not impossible, but it's really unlikely.
3:24
Esp. since they aren't likely to get an ace. Q was probably the most sensible target for them.
Tyson
3:25
Will Cozart bring a top 100 prospect. Will he stay a Red?
Jeffrey Todd
3:26
Maybe, but he's just not in a great spot as a trade candidate (not that he cares) despite the great play. Nunez did return a sort of back-end top 100 type last year (Mejia no not Jenrry the other one). But he had another year of cheap control.
Best bet for Cinci is an injury or a team deciding to get really bold and shift their current SS to another position to make room for Cozart.

Will the Yankees make a push for Bour, or stick to a rental/in-house option?
Jeffrey Todd
3:27
Not real sure why they'd pay a premium for a controllable first baseman if they aren't pretty sure he's a future regular who is also better than Bird.
Nicholas
3:28
What would Nats have to give up to land J. Wilson and Alex Avila?
Jeffrey Todd
3:28
There'll be competition. But both make sense as targets. (I've been wondering when they'll tire of Lobaton.)
Grammar Police

I don't know, Jeff. I'm just looking out for you. You'll get off with a warning.
Jeffrey Todd

Still pulled me over jerk.
Wait til you see how much I care about grammar now bud.

Jeffrey Todd

'Of course'
3:31
Am I the most common pairing of words used on this website?
Jeffrey Todd
3:31
I use that a lot ... among other boring little crutch phrases. Sorry : (
Grammar Police
