Bour more than Belt, given latter's concerning concussion issue.
3:01
Bour, btw, is really impressive. I'm still unsure he'd draw a big return given the number of sluggers available in FA, though.

Do players take home-town discounts anymore? Seems like there is always someone saying, "well if Player X gets traded to Team Y, he'll sign for less because that's where he lived when he wore diapers."

Every guy is different, but we see deals all the time that are influenced by personal factors. I'm not sure many are all that motivated by feelings of goodwill toward their particular organization, but that probably happens too.
3:03
I mean, we know orgs have done it. Royals really didn't need to do the second Salvy deal.

After trading Upton and Verlander and freeing up $, will the Tigers be players in the big 2018 FA market to help them a couple years down the road?
Jeffrey Todd
3:05
They don't have a clear base of young talent even assembled yet. Teams that have been rebuilding for much longer -- Phils, Braves, Reds -- are still not ready to make big investments in 2018 FA market. Settle in and get patient.

Does Jurickson Profar have a future on the Rangers, or is he likely to end up as a piece in a trade?
Jeffrey Todd
3:06
I think he might be the single most likely player in all of baseball to be traded. Out of options and no place to go on the roster, as they have set things up.

Hey Jeff. Adding the second wild card is one of the best thing's MLB did. I enjoy watching four or five fteams battle it out for the remaining wild card spots. What are your thoughts on the second wild card, and how it helps baseball?
Jeffrey Todd
3:08
Best thing about it is that it makes winning the division so much more valuable. (Not that it has really shown that feature in this oddball season.) And I agree I like keeping more teams in the hunt.
3:09
I'd like to see  a 3-game play-in, but realize how hard that is to pull off. And the fact that the one-game format is so variable is also just another punishment to the WC teams for not winning their division.

What I said about you sounding like Adams was in reference to ur opening statements?? LOL!

Nevertheless, I take offense.

I guess it could be Wilmer, but I feel like he hasn't spent much time there ... and don't feel like looking it up.

Do the Brewers, with their newly found ability to contend, actively engage in the Free Agent market while so many players on their roster are salary controlled for the next few years?
Jeffrey Todd
3:12
In a very targeted way, sure. Pitching seems likelier than position players.
It takes a Villarage
3:12
Does Jonathon Villar have any trade value or should the Brewers just hang on and hope for the best?
Jeffrey Todd
3:12
Probably the latter, but perhaps they could find a team that would like to take a risk on him.

Does Josh Donaldson get a long-term deal from the Jays or a new home in the offseason?
Jeffrey Todd

I'll guess neither.

another chat without a cubs question answered. Are my questions even coming to you. Seems an awful lot of east coast questions. More east coast biased then espn.

no TJ Rivera love for Mets 3B?

As a semi-regular? Nah. But sure, he could factor in.

Whats the market look like for Dee Gordon?
Jeffrey Todd

Sooo many second basemen. Walker, Kendrick, Phillips, Nunez among FA options. You have Kinsler, Lowrie, maybe Forsythe, Cesar Hernandez, others as trade candidates.
3:18
Okay folks, time for me to hang out with my son, who is crawling on me and demanding attention.
3:19
Maybe we'll go play some ball. Get outside and do the same if you can!
Have a great week.
