If they want to, they would maybe have a shot, though not sure what they'd send back. I just dont think it's in the plans.
Chris
2:49
Brewers actually in on Arrieta or are you just giving us false hope? If not, could Stearns make a move for a controllable starter instead?
Jeffrey Todd
2:49
We never said we had reason to believe they were. The predictions are based upon what has been reported and our assessment of rosters and resources.
2:50
Steve addressed the controllable starter point today: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/11/twins-brewers-enter-offseason-i...
Don't think they have to target a young/controllable guy. But they do have the resources to get one.
2:51
Lot of opportunities for MIL, too. Should be a fun team to watch. Actually the NL central teams will all be fun to watch, with the possible exception of the Reds (unless they start trading and signing outside of expectations).
Jurickson Profar
2:52
Does it make sense for the reds to trade for me?
Jeffrey Todd
2:52
Perhaps, sure. I do think it makes sense for a team like CIN or SDP to consider just rolling the dice and making Profar the everyday SS. Wouldn't go wild paying for him, but it's pretty clear the time is up in Texas.

2:53
At what point do the Mets give in and sell everything?
Jeffrey Todd
2:53
Would have to be a disastrous first half. Even then, I don't know that it would happen.
Chisox Dave
2:54
Does Jose Abreu or Avisail Garcia get traded? And if so, to where and for what?
Jeffrey Todd
2:54
More I think about it, the more I like Abreu to be dealt. Red Sox and Rockies are both really nice fits.
Ben
2:54
Are the Royals better offf long term re-signing Hosmer, Moustakas, and/or Cain letting them go elsewhere so they can build through the draft picks received?
Jeffrey Todd
2:55
Think they should let them all walk.
LoMo's comments today on how cool it would be to play in KC are worth noting. He'd be a nice target for them. Odds are not bad at all that he'd outproduce Hosmer and he's going to require so much less of a commitment.

Phillies interested in Otani?
Jeffrey Todd
2:56
Every team is interested in Otani.

2:57
Chances Cincy trades Iglesias? I think they should, although there wouldn't be much to fill in behind him...
Jeffrey Todd
2:58
They should absolutely be shopping him around, just in case there's a huge offer out there. But no need to do it. And I can understand why there'd be hesitation.
Sergio Romo's Slider
2:59
Where am I pitching in '18?
Jeffrey Todd
2:59
See, this is why it's so hard to predict guys. What exactly distinguishes Sergio from all the other interesting veteran relievers? How can you tell what any given team will want.
3:00
It's a tough job even predicting the guys who we think will get 2/3/4-year deals. Relievers especially.
That said I still like Sergio, man. He was pretty solid on the whole last year.
Dan C
3:00
How do the Dbacks replace JD martinez? Or do they just resign him?
Jeffrey Todd
3:01
They would have to just completely blow past their previous spending levels to sign him.
Replacing him might mean Yasmany Tomas plus a platoon partner.
Not having Mitch Haniger kinda hurts right about now.
Ted Lerner
3:02
This might be my last chance at a World Series run. Do i give Mike Rizzo (Nationals) a blank cheque this off season?
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
I don't see it as a do-or-die season. This isnt like the Royals, who had so many guys walking. Nats still have lots of really good players under contract past 2017 and  could still have another superstar in Robles.
3:03
But, yeah, you want to take a shot while the window is so clearly open. Never know how health and everything else will go. Especially if they are willing to concede that Harper will not stay in DC, they could go ahead and tack on another big salary.
3:04
Otherwise I think they ought to be opportunistic in filling out the rotation and bullpen. And get a strong catcher to share time with Wieters. Avila would make sense to me.
Pete
3:04
Can the Astros legitimately keep their core four intact once they hit free agency?
Jeffrey Todd
3:04
Seems unlikely.
Brian Dozier
3:04
What would it take to get me in the lineup with Mike Trout?
Jeffrey Todd
3:05
Look at it from Twins' perspective. What is it going to take to get them to part with their solid, starting 2B who doesn't have a ready replacement? And why do everything to pry him loose when you can go after Kinsler or a whole host of other options? Doesn't seem likely from where I sit.
Red Sox offseason
3:06
DH JD Martinez
6 years, $160

1B Logan Morrison
1 year, $12 million

UT Howie Kendrick
2 years, $13.8 million

Hanley Ramirez bought out. Yay or nay?
Jeffrey Todd
3:06
LoMo and probably Kendrick will be more expensive than that. And it would be kind of crazy to just release Hanley. Plenty of reason to think he can still hit and they owe him the money regardless.
Bill Lumbergh
3:07
Yeaa I'm going to need an answer from you, That would be great. Mkay, thanks
