Guys in that spot typically take the total guarantee. Who knows what he'll look like as a FA in 3 years? Never know how the market will shake out, and Cespedes had to settle for that sort of deal, but you might expect a similar opt-out oppo to come with it.

And I still think he'll land well over 100 mil on a 6-year pact.

He's a huge trade chip. So when thinking of proposals, generally, you have to start with someone that hurts, not guys you think your team can live without.
