Doubt it.

Heard that mike napoli has been trying to recruit yu darvish to come to the twins...does this mean that twins are pretty much going to sign mike napoli?
Jeffrey Todd
2:33
No, particularly since Mike Napoli -- persuasive though I'm sure he may be -- does not actually currently play for the Twins.
Hunter
2:33
Is Seattle a contender or a pretender?
Jeffrey Todd
2:33
A non-tender
2:34
(I have no idea why it occurred to me to answer that question, let alone in that manner. Ms are one of a half-dozen plausible wild card teams in the AL.)
Luhnow
2:34
Am I done?
Jeffrey Todd
2:34
Think there are still some tweaks to be done. But major moves? Probably not.
Jeremy Hellickson
2:35
Do I get an MLB contract or a minor league deal with spring invite? Where might I land?
Jeffrey Todd
2:35
No way to guess where, just yet, but it's hard to imagine he won't get a MLB contract despite the struggles.
2:36
Justin Grimm lost his arb case. Players 7, teams 4.
Nick
2:37
Of the top FA left, who do you think has the best chance of being teamless come opening day?
Jeffrey Todd
2:38
Moustakas is the easy choice. But really the answer depends upon how each guy would approach a situation in which they don't really have the money or the fit they would prefer. Which is pure guesswork unless you know them personally.
Todd Smith
2:39
Why does no one care that Tony Clark failed the Union?
Jeffrey Todd
2:40
Lots of people have suggested this. While I see some cause for concern, I do still think it's premature to declare that he has failed the Union.
2:41
(I'd probably make a Civil War joke were it not for our wretched political climate.)
Clint Frazier
2:42
Will I get traded before the season starts?  If yes, where?
Jeffrey Todd
2:43
Still makes pretty good sense to imagine him headlining a deal for a starter. Hard to guess where, but you can imagine some conceivable fits (Rays, A's, Indians (!), Braves, etc)
David
2:44
Astros should sign Tony Watson right? Why hasn't this happened yet?
Jeffrey Todd
2:44
If they really wanted him, in particular, it probably already would have happened.
2:45
Not necessarily, just ... from the way Luhnow has discussed the approach and the way the pen market proceeded.
Dwight
2:46
Lucroy to the A's sound right?
Jeffrey Todd
2:46
Seems very plausible, yes, but hardly a clear favorite.
2:47
Biggest issue is that Luc has said he really wants to play for a strong contender.
Scott Boras
2:48
I set unrealistic expectations for my clients and then complain when they are not met.  In any other profession it would be called malpractice.  Am I wrong?
Jeffrey Todd
2:48
Well, he has landed some rather significant contracts with generally similar tactics in the past, so we're not starting from a blank slate.
James Franco
2:49
Chances of Mookie signing and extension before he hits FA?
Jeffrey Todd
2:49
He has stated pretty clearly he's happy going year to year.
Nebraska Tim

Thanks for doing this chat!
Jeffrey Todd
2:50
Hey, you got it. Nice handle!
Jake
2:50
Let me see if I understand this.  Because the Red Sox offered less than Boras told JD he was worth, and won't bid against themselves, JD is angry about our 'inflexibility'.
Jeffrey Todd
2:51
Try not to take this all personally. Martinez did not go on record with a reporter, unless I missed something. These are telephone game statements about his supposed current feelings, as evidently expressed to close confidants.
2:53
Something about this line of reporting just triggers visions of the reality-TV-ization of baseball transactions, as has already occurred in much of our public debate. I'm not really inclined to go there myself with this kind of material.
Mike
2:53
What would it take for the Yankees to acquire Jason Kipnis
Jeffrey Todd
2:54
A willingness to spend more on him than they are probably willing to.
Sloth
2:54
Given the market, would the Angels have been better off waiting on Upton and Cozart?
Jeffrey Todd
2:55
Speed still hasn't told us much about the final prices. I wouldn't say that. They still got guys they wanted at solid prices with those two. And they got bargains on Ohtani/Kinsler (the latter b/c he wanted to go there and had the no-trade stick to make it happen).
Josh
2:56
Do you play any baseball video games?
Jeffrey Todd
2:57
Too engaged with working, raising kids, doing all kinds of other stuff. No offense to those that do -- more power to you if you have the time -- but I always advocate for getting active and getting after it before just "relaxing." Not at a stage of my life where I have much time I want to dedicate to that!
Jerome

Was EE to Boston for JBJ a leak to gain leverage on JD?
