Jeff - wanted to piggyback off your Mets thought.  If they hadn't signed Bruce, wouldn't the term for Lynn/Cobb still driven them away?  They seemed reticent to give anything over 3 years this year, which is why the Vargas contract made sense.

It's certainly not as simple as my comment might have accidentally suggested, of course. And yes, the Mets do have a notable stopping point on their current slate of commitments, which has largely been maintained.

That said ... might be possible to get one of those guys on a 3-year deal. But giving three to a somewhat limited slugger type in Bruce is just sort of odd to me. Especially since they really don't need a corner OF if Conforto gets healthy. I just never fully understood it.

Is Pittsburgh regretting the Cervelli deal?  2 WAR seems like a fluke in retrospect.

Seemed a bargain at the time. It's hard to get an everyday catcher. Still think he looks like a solid value so long as he can stay healthy this year.

St Louis for 90 wins this season... are you buying or selling?

Well within range of reasonable expectations but probably a slight bit on the optimistic side.

Buster Posey's value isn't as a catcher?
Jeffrey Todd

Of course it is. But he'd also be a good first baseman. Salvy has been a roughly average hitter for his career. The bat just doesn't really play at first.

Do you see Chargois making it through waivers? I like his upside still with the Twins.

Appreciate the reminder that I need to finish writing that post!

Going to have to call it quits here ... I'll address that question on the site!
Thanks all, hope to see you again next week.
