Is darvish  contract a small bargain?
Jeffrey Todd
2:52
It was within the bounds of reasonable expectations.
On the lower end, but I wasn't shocked by the number.

Collusion....you buying or selling?
Jeffrey Todd
2:55
Selling that it's an issue worth even discussing right now when there's no evidence of collusion in the true sense.
I don't really see strong evidence of price fixing in the prices themselves. And for assessing concerns with the overall market functioning ... still want to see next offseason.

how many questions go unanswered in any given chat?
Jeffrey Todd

Thousands.

What's your favorite throwback jerseys?
Jeffrey Todd
2:58
Only one I own is a sweet Homestead Grays jersey from when they played in DC. It's pretty strong! But also quite warm in mid-summer. Ebbets Field Flannels is the gold standard.
2:59
Seriously, I can't recommend EFF enough. This benefits me not at all to say. But I met one of their dudes once and chatted with him a bit ... he ended up sending me a couple caps for free just because he enjoyed our conversation and such. They really try to be historically accurate and uncover so much fun history of the game. Love that company.
(That was before I wrote for MLBTR, btw.)

Think Josh Bell and Colin Moran could turn into a formidable duo (think Bryant/Rizzo-lite)?

Ha just messing around ... but seriously, that is an extremely optimistic question to ask at all. Not sure exactly what would constitute Bryzzo-lite but I can't imagine it'll be BellMo.

Why don't the Brewers take a chance on Lucroy?
Jeffrey Todd
3:03
Could say the same for other teams. I mean, he hit pretty well in Colorado and has a really strong track record overall at the plate. I get that the framing fall-off could be a concern but he's a super accomplished catcher. His situation is perhaps the most mystifying to me of the remaining FAs.

Jesus Aguilar, seems like he'd be a good fit for bench/1B competition in COL and yet seems like another odd man out in MIL. Is he a good fit? Would acquiring him requiring any real kind of prospect?
Jeffrey Todd
3:04
Seems like one of those things that can happen late in camp when two teams look up and see that nobody got hurt or signed or whatever and, yeah, that would make sense.
3:05
Don't see why he'd require much of a return as a righty slugger type. I still wonder if COL can pull off something more substantial though.

Ebbets field flannel is LEGIT! I have an Oakland Oaks Jersey, sorry that’s not a question

It's better than a question, you are excused

Isn't expecting Steven Duggar to be a contributor, a bit risky with so little time at AAA? Thanks Jeff.
Jeffrey Todd
3:07
Sure, but you have to take risks on guys at some point. And SFG couldn't upgrade every place it needed without going over the luxury line. So ... had to either zip past the line or hope Duggar and others could hold down CF and that the pitching depth would be sufficient.

Keon Broxton for Jason Hammel and $7million.....who hangs up?
Jeffrey Todd
3:08
Not sure why anyone would give up value for Hammel? There are innings still available for little cost in FA if that's what you need.
3:09
I mean he probably wasn't as bad as the results, but he's still a 35-year-old who had a 5+ ERA last year.

Any predictions for out-of-nowhere all-stars???

Could the Braves sneak into a Wild Card spot if Freddie Freeman stays healthy all year and contends for NL MVP?
Jeffrey Todd
3:12
Freddie Freeman could morph into Mike Trout and the Braves won't sniff the WC unless they get really really good seasons from a number of other players. I wouldn't expect it, esp since they seemingly are foregoing any significant veteran signings, but I think there's enough talent at/near the majors that you can't rule it out.
3:13
It's probably too much to hope that they get the good Teheran and big contributions from young starters, the good Dansby, Acuna lives up to the hype, etc. But those things (or many of them) could happen.
3:14
Worth noting too that ATL would be very well situated to deal for a controllable player at the deadline if warranted.

Any idea where Jeremy Hellickson could be pitching this season?
Jeffrey Todd
3:16
No idea. But he's one of the guys I was thinking of in responding to the Hammel question above.
