I will say that, in the aggregate, I think the NL East is set up to be a tough division. Lots to like about NYM/ATL/PHI and some real concerns for the Nats.
Ballpark question
3:51
What's your take on the new dbacks stadium agreement? Any chance they're relocated?
Jeffrey Todd
3:52
I'm not going to give you the full, unrestrained version. But I think it is ridiculous to construct a new baseball stadium twenty years after another, perfectly good one was put up.

3:52
Do you see the Dodgers making any trades to address the shortstop position?
Jeffrey Todd
3:53
Depends how Taylor handles it. Remember that's his natural position. So, perhaps they end up preferring to get an outfielder. But I think they'll have to be in the market for position players.
John
3:54
Is the NL east tired of playing the Braves yet?
Jeffrey Todd
3:54
You sure you're ready to declare your team the champs?
Raisel Iglesias
3:55
Is Kyle Wright, Koby Allard and Cristian Pache enough, too much or not enough to get me in Atlanta?
Jeffrey Todd
3:55
Sounds too rich.
Rick Hahn
3:56
When do I call up Kopech and who am I flipping come the trade deadline?
Jeffrey Todd
3:57
Really don't see why they'd rush with Kopech. As for flipping ... Abreu? Nate Jones? Maybe Soria if he gets going? Dont' necessarily expect them to be the most active team.

How long of a leash does Matt Kemp have? Seems like there's some catchable balls he's missing
Jeffrey Todd
3:58
Well the question is whether he gives enough with his bat to make up for what he gives back with his glove. So far, yes. But it'll be touch and go all year long, I suspect, and he's no shoe-in to keep a roster spot throughout the season.
Kevin
3:58
Is Matt Davidson a better hitter this year?  Or is he just hitting some homers
Jeffrey Todd
3:59
The big development isn't the dingers -- he hit lots last year -- but the walk rate. If he can sustain that, there might just be something there.
Keith
3:59
What kind of return would Sean Manaea bring to Oakland?
Jeffrey Todd
3:59
Think they are going to have a hard time selling such a move to fans.
4:00
After the public talk of building a new core, etc.
Justin Verlander
4:00
Over/under I pitch 220 innings?
Jeffrey Todd
4:01
Under, just b/c there's likely not going to be a need to extend him late in the season (assuming they have a healthy division lead). Can back off and make sure he's fresh for the postseason.
Generally ... who throws 220 anymore? Not a lot of guys.
Obviously he's on track to do so, and could, but you have my guess and my reasoning.
Buddy

I also thought Clear Pepsi was a good idea, so what the hell do I know?
Jeffrey Todd
4:02
Thank you for admitting this.
John
4:02
Not my team and nobody mentioned champions. Just seems like the chats flood with concern about the latest team the Braves have taken the series from. Particularly, the Phillies, Mets, and Nats.
Jeffrey Todd
4:03
Ah. Well. In that case, yes, the rest of the division is probably feeling a bit sore.
Ed
4:03
Is there a similar project/buy low player who the Mets could trade Harvey for?
Jeffrey Todd
4:04
You can imagine some names, but none will likely be very exciting. We do see deals like that from time to time -- Frieri/Grilli comes to mind -- but it's fairly rare. More likely, perhaps, he'd just be DFA'ed.
4:06
Okay all, I'm going to have to wrap it up here. I prefer to go longer, but need to take care of a few quick things on the home front and relieve Steve on the site.
Thanks as always! We'll do it again next week.
