He's arguably worth more.

What would be more surprising, Dodgers winning division with 90 or so wins or Mike Trout getting to 14.5 WAR.
Jeffrey Todd
3:57
The latter, by a wide margin. He's a long way from doing that, clearly, but that would be a mind-boggling achievement in this day and age.

Do you expect Goldschmidt to rebound to his normal number even though balls kept in humidor?
Jeffrey Todd
3:58
What you'd generally have expected is that he'd have been about as good as before relative to everyone else, but that he'd suffer the same relative drop in production. Obviously, he has not been himself.
3:59
It's not the humidor, then, because he'd still have an impressive batting line. That said, it could be having some effect on him ... certainly, there have been studies suggesting that an allegedly juiced ball has helped some players more than others.
4:00
Maybe there's a mental /strategic adjustment that has hampered Goldy. I dont know. But it's doubtful that the humidor itself explains such a big fall-off.

Why is Eugenio Suarez not on the MVP top 10 list but his numbers are as good or comparable to Bryant. Cause he's a Red?
Jeffrey Todd
4:00
There's an MVP top ten list?
I don't know what that is.

Who do the Cardinals DFA when they bring up Baron? They owe me too much money - right?
Jeffrey Todd
4:01
That would be crazy.

Could today be a turning point for the Dodgers?
Jeffrey Todd
4:02
Probably not.
4:03
Let me just say this. I read a lotta tweets and a lotta stories on baseball. After a while, you begin to roll your eyes at the early-season narrative game. When a team's W/L record or a player's slash or ERA can change dramatically in just a few weeks, it's easy to treat every game like it is actually creating significant momentum or telling us something profound about a player or even a whole team. Rarely the case.
Biggest surprise

Whats the most surprising story from the first month and a half of the season?
Jeffrey Todd
4:04
Going to try to id a few for a poll ...

Did you expect the White Sox to be this bad?
Jeffrey Todd
4:06
Not surprised.
4:07
Really? Nobody is that surprised that JV and Cole have been otherworldly? I am pretty surprised by that!
Not saying it's the greatest list, but I just made it up.
Oh there's a vote
(It was mine haha)

Is it more likely than not that Adam Jones will be traded at the deadline?
Jeffrey Todd
4:08
It's the Orioles and it's an older player who is as firmly rooted with a team as possible. It's not a sure thing he'll be dealt, esp if he doesn't play well enough to command a real return.
4:09
(He's obviously a target, but he's also expensive.)
Derek and Thad
4:09
Would there be a trade market for Miguel Sano? The fans are not fond of him (at least not at the moment) and want him traded, but we can't see a way for the club to get good value for him, particularly since we don't see a match out there. What are we missing?
Jeffrey Todd
4:10
Maybe I'm missing something, but ... why are you so anxious to trade him?
4:11
I mean I get that he hasn't been hitting as much as hoped, the injuries, and I guess the weight questions. (I'm not touching the assault allegation thing b/c I just don't know what happened there.) But ... he's a young, talented player. Those don't always produce at top level consistently.

4:12
Any chance I package one or more of Britton/Schoop/Jones/Gausman with Machado to bring back a more significant haul?
Jeffrey Todd
4:12
Packages are fairly rare. Not to say they can't happen -- Doolittle/Madson, Samardzija/Hammel come to mind -- but I wouldn't necessarily expect it.
4:13
Certainly not with the controllable guys on that list -- they are different assets and surely aren't tack-ons to a Manny swap.
Okay folks I'm going to have to wrap up after a couple more ...

When do the Angels start looking for an outfielder? Calhoun and Young are struggling and it doesn't look like an end is near. Who should they target? Would Garcia make sense from the White Sox?
Jeffrey Todd
4:14
See that's just the thing -- Garcia has been hurt and terrible this year. Have to give your guys time to work through things. I discussed this some in the post I wrote earlier today on the Halos. Could end up chasing an OF, or perhaps being opportunistic, but they have time to evaluate.

4:15
what are your thoughts on esports?
Jeffrey Todd
4:15
My only thought is that they aren't sports.
4:17
And I'm not a meathead. It's just ... the great thing about team sports is that you must utilize your body to physically interact with other participants. Loads of great individual sports require pure physical prowess/technique. There's no sport where you only interact with others through make-believe without using your body.
