Soto and Robles ... most of the core other than Harper still in town past '18 ... it's still open past this season.
How long? Shrug. But they are still about as well positioned as any org to compete for the next several seasons.
4:42
(Not being specific with that. Yes, the Yankees look scary, etc, etc. Just ... Nats look in very solid shape.)
Couple more and I have to roll ...

Who gets the boot first, Duquette or Showalter?
Jeffrey Todd
4:43
Based on nothing but my best guess ... both will be gone.
JT is my spirit animal

Kyle Lewis, Vogelbach and Sam Carlson enough for the M's to get MadBum or Syndergaard?
Jeffrey Todd
4:44
Nope. And MadBum isnt available.
But thank you for making me your spirit animal.

I thought I heard that a beardless Brian Wilson was attempting a comeback as a knuckle baller
Jeffrey Todd
4:44
Wasn't that like 3 years ago tho?

Mike moustakes will get a very poor return at the deadline . The braves may have a need on paper but camargo has a higher wrc+ and is cheaper
Jeffrey Todd

Moose might not be a big piece, so he might be had for a fairly minimal return. And it doesn't have to be either/or. You'd be adding a solid player who'd free Camargo to move around the infield. Increases the situational options and overall talent level. It's the kind of move I can imagine.

Who's the most underrated player in baseball right now?

Mike Trout

Do you think the ChiSox trade Abreu? If so what teams make sense and for what?
Jeffrey Todd
4:47
His recent skid makes that less likely.
Derek
4:47
Do you actually think the Mets will trade multiple players of significance?
Jeffrey Todd
4:47
They'll deal their rental guys. Hard for them to really blow things up right now, in my opinion. I think they'll shop some significant players but won't feel compelled to move any of them.

I keep seeing reports pop up about how good of a fit Moose is for the Cardinals. In what world is his low on base, homer happy profile a fit in an offense that already has these problems without adding him to the mix and four capable third baseman?
Jeffrey Todd
4:48
Agree, not a great fit there in my view.

So, tell me these "so many pieces still" that the Reds need.  1st Base: check; 2nd Base: check 3rd Base: check Catcher: check Relief corp: check  SS: maybe check.  2 or 3 SP: probably check  1 or 2 OF positions: check.  So we need a pitcher or two and an OF.  Until then we are one of the best offensive teams and relief pitching.

"So we need a pitcher or two and an OF." This is very optimistic, sorry. They have played better. I've never been totally down on what they have going on. But some of those "check" or "maybe checks" will turn the wrong way, and there are still other needs.
4:51
Okay all, I need to jet.
Thanks for the chat, as always! We'll do it again next week.
