Not necessarily, if you're talking about a guy that comes with plenty of control. But if that guy is truly available at the deadline, other teams are going to be making offers that bake in the value of adding a major arm for the stretch run. The Reds can't value that, so maybe this isn't the opportune time.
There's a reason these scenarios we hear talked over -- they'll sell player X but acquire player Y! -- so rarely occur.

Would take a ton, surely, so much so that there's no real way to guess. It'd have to be players the Pirates loved and that really matched the org's near-future needs.

Whoa ... I wasn't the one handling that, but as far as I saw, we basically addressed the rumor b/c it was spreading so wide and reputable reporters had offered interpretations of it. Certainly we aren't taking barstool sports at its word.
(I say I wasn't handling it not to distance myself, but b/c I don't know the details.)

Yeah I don't think you make that move and then just sit back. Lots of OF options to be had, many of which shouldn't cost much, so they will surely be going through the possibilities and end up doing something.

Honestly it could only be Ziegler. But Conley and maybe Barraclough, Realmuto, Castro are also decent candidates to move. (Decent in relation to their odds of being traded, not value.)

Not scared, but okay. We have cited that outfit in the past, IIRC, when they have simply been first to report something that turned out to be real. I mean, I am only familiar with Barstool for its despicable reputation, but I don't believe we would allow that to impact whether we mention the company's name if they reported something (or, as noted above, were a key part in the development of a story).
I don't see that as any kind of validation of what they are about. We don't just sort of happily reference their hijinx.
