Okay  ... I'm not sold on Oh/Holliday as being a suitable upgrade, though they would combine well for a new Christmas song.
3:37
I ... I do not understand the Rockies. Like, at all. They had a great opportunity to add Daniel Murphy, move Ian Desmond to the outfield, and get rid of (or option down) one of their too-many left-handed-hitting outfielders. They did not. They also have bypassed other opportunities.
Shrug.

Any legitimate reason for the White Sox to NOT bring up Jimenez in early September?
Jeffrey Todd
3:38
Do you consider service time considerations legitimate?
David

Gio Gonzalez or Max Scherzer to the Yankees and or Josh Donaldson or Andrew McCutchen to the Yankees?
Jeffrey Todd
3:38
One of these things is not like the others.

Braves 40-man is full, I believe.  If it is, what moves could you see them making to bring up Riley, Wright, etc.?
Jeffrey Todd
3:40
They have no reason to push guys up unless they want them to be contributing in the majors down the stretch. Especially since they have had to fill up the 40-man a bit to make MLB roster additions and will need to be cognizant of protecting guys in the offseason. It is completely legitimate for a team in this situation to be wary of things like not putting a guy on the 40-man before it's necessary.

If the Rockies don't make the playoffs this season, should they trade the last year of Arenado? They do have Brendan Rodgers waiting in AAA.
Jeffrey Todd
3:42
Not really their style. And there's an opening at second.
Yelich
3:42
Where do you think he is in the MVP race? Not a flashy player but he just does everything to well. Not many flaws to his game
Jeffrey Todd
3:43
The NL MVP race is not very compelling. A bunch of good seasons ... nobody really stands out. I tend to lean toward Arenado or Freeman, partially on the basis of years of quality production. Esp if their clubs make it into the postseason.
3:44
Do I really value things like that? Only when it's all pretty even otherwise, I guess. Generally, I think the best season of output -- even if it is somewhat lucky or doesn't seem sustainable -- ought to take the award.

How surprised are you if I do not trade Cutch by tomorrow?  Or Dyson, Holland, etc.
Jeffrey Todd
3:45
I think Cutch is the only one I would be surprised at.
3:46
Dyson still has control and may not have made it through waivers. Holland ... not sure there'll be that much interest and they may want to keep the innings.
Bogz
3:48
Maybe the Indians for Blevins
Jeffrey Todd
3:48
Certainly possible, though he could still fit a lot of rosters. I guess I'm marginally surprised he wasn't claimed ... not cheap, but he has been pretty effective of late.

Rays have too many prospects to protect them all from the Rule 5 draft, and most of them seem to be left-handed bats. Any big names you can see them trading prospects for this offseason?
Jeffrey Todd
3:50
Your guess is as good as mine when it comes to the Rays. Remember, marginal 40-man guys can be useful trade assets, but there are also other teams with such situations and the value is reduced by the fact that every other team is considering its own guys.

What does a Daniel Murphy contract look like for next year?
Jeffrey Todd
3:51
Hmmm ....
2/30
3:52
I guess that number would imply a QO would have been warranted. But the Nats had reasons to let him go even if they thought he'd have been worth a 1/18 QO.

Am I crazy to be excited about Lucas Duda coming to Atlanta? Seems like a perfect addition to the bench.
Jeffrey Todd
3:53
I've always been a Duda proponent, and he could still be useful v righties, but he doesn't stand out as an amazing weapon for a team that already has an everyday left-handed-hitting 1B and can't deploy a DH.
3:54
Still a sensible move ... gives them postseason roster options.
And of course at this stage of the season, having the right bat at the right moment can mean everything.

Your patio is like the Orioles' 25-man roster?  So...a bunch of broken pieces, specifically those you way overpaid for and now are stuck with for the next X amount of years?
Jeffrey Todd
3:54
Yes.
Kole Calhoun

Do I have any trade value this winter after my blistering second half?
Jeffrey Todd
3:55
Sure but they still need him in LA
Christian Villanueva
3:56
Luis Urias seems to be all we hoped for...given the small sample size. Do see Mark Loretta as a good comp, with maybe more upside?
Jeffrey Todd
3:56
You should be excited about him, but not b/c of two games in the majors!
Just a random person

Would it take alot for the giants to make the playoffs next year?
Jeffrey Todd
3:57
I have a hard time seeing it. I don't think they will totally punt on being competitive, but all the public comments indicate they are trying to prioritize the future.
