Will Herrera end up having to settle for a 1 year deal after this injury?
Jeffrey Todd
4:22
May depend upon whether he's able to get on the hill and show his form before signing. He could also sign a two-year deal that bakes in some uncertainty in year one. Sort of a modified version of the TJ recoveree contracts players like Eovaldi, Pineda, Smyly have signed.

The Braves Johan Camargo is considered by many to be an overachieving utility player. He's not as good defensively as many SS, not as good offensively as many 3B, can play some 2B and maybe corner OF. What is your sense of how Camargo is perceived around the league?
Jeffrey Todd
4:23
Perception has to be improving. He has found some pop and shown he can draw a walk in the majors. Came up as a very young, largely unknown player. It's not hard to imagine reasons he has been able to improve in ways that can be sustainable.
4:24
As his track record deepens, it's all easier to believe in. It is much more believable than, say, Charlie Culberson.

Going to take a few more and then I'll have to wrap it up for the day ...

With Andrew Miller & Trevor Bauer coming back, would  you agree that the Indians will move one SP (Bieber or Carrasco) to the pen, extending it while going with Bauer, Kluber, Clevinger and Bieber/Carrasco (whoever isn't in the pen) as their starting staff.. especially against the Red Sox in Fenway?
Jeffrey Todd

I assume they will adopt some kind of flexible approach to ensure they get innings from all these guys and aren't beholden to keeping a SP in if he's getting drubbed. Can also break up righties by inserting a lefty reliever and come up with other strategies of maximizing value.

Seems Gallardo could be a useful back end piece for someone with the way he has pitched lately.

Do you like that I sometimes answer a few non-baseball questions or should I STFU and talk about the old ballgame?

Jeff - fellow Roanoker!  Live in the Grandin area! What are Yankees going to do!
Jeffrey Todd

Nice! Hit me up on twitter or something. I live nearby. Yankees are still a candidate to add some depth roster pieces in the way, say, the Braves have lately. And I'm sure they'd still love to add a quality SP, though hard to see that coming together.

Damn button. Chances Pujols calls it a career after next season? One final farewell tour ala Big Papi. The Angels play St Loius in SL next year, fitting.
Jeffrey Todd
4:32
No idea. I'm sure if he wants to keep playing and receiving enormous paychecks, he'll keep going until they send him out to pasture. Maybe the team hopes that he'll be more likely to work out some kind of buyout or give up some years on his deal if they keep treating him respectfully, which they have.

Does starting with an “opener” soon become the norm? Or is it just an experimental fad?
Jeffrey Todd
4:33
Not necessarily the norm, but I think it'll be increasingly common.

Will Jeff McNeil be the starting 2b for the Mets next year?

Has certainly shown enough to get a longer look.

I wasn't trying to hate on the comment. I get that some don't like it. I'm not that interesting.

I’m surprised someone like Jason McLeod hasn’t been poached for a GM job. I assume that will happen soon?
Jeffrey Todd

He has turned down opportunities to interview for some jobs. No doubt will still garner consideration.
Okay folks, I gotta hit the road!
Thanks as always ... talk next week!
