Cards have three game sets remaining against the Brewers and the Cubs. Unfortunately they're 3.5 back from the Cubs, but they just about 95% have their own future in their hands.

Harper to the Giants isn't THAT far fetched unless he expressly indicated not wanting the go there.   They were willing to make a huge over pay to take on Stanton, Harper costs them no prospects, is a perfect roster fit for that team's on-field needs.  A very large front loaded guarantee with opt-out after year 3...  Machado doesn't fit and Kershaw is LAD or state of Texas bound.

Didn't say it's far-fetched. It was posed as sort of a "will this happen"? I don't think it's likely they sign any of those guys. Harper may be most likely among them, but still isn't very.
