I think it's basically a toss-up between Soto and Acuna. Wouldn't hate on anyone who picked one over the other. Indeed I may be shifting toward Acuna myself. They are basically equals in terms of offensive output right now and Acuna does more elsewhere.
4:11
(I think Soto is the better bet at the plate in the long run, just b/c of his insane plate discipline, but I think awards should be based on what actually was produced.)
Grab some pine meat

Kershaw to the Giants
Harper to the Giants?
Machado to the Giants?
Jeffrey Todd
4:11
None of the above. Grab some pine, meat.

I know you guys say "can't get to every question" but there are so many guys that get multiple questions answered?
Jeffrey Todd
4:12
That is totally random. If anything, I try not to b/c it typically means someone is putting a ton of questions through. But I rarely look much at the handles.
4:13
(I say this right after referencing the handle in a response, of course.)

You are Eppler's assistant, what do you tell him do to get the Angels into the playoffs in 2019? No cop out answers like "they already do a great job" or "nothing they really can do, everyone else is too good". What trades, FA signings, who do you call up?
Jeffrey Todd
4:15
This is too much to tackle here, of course. But if Arte says "GET IN THE PLAYOFFS NOW, MEAT" then you dangle Jo Adell + to the Mets for top-tier SP and get out the wallet for more in free agency. Closer, corner infielder, RHH OF to pair with Calhoun. And more pitching.

More likely to make the HOF:  Greinke or Verlander and Posey or Mauer

Aaron Sanchez actually looked pretty amazing last night.  If he and Stroman can return to form next year - and if Borucki, Reid-Foley, and Pannone catch lightning in a bottle - do the Jays have a chance to compete for the second wildcard in 2019?
Jeffrey Todd
4:16
Give me enough "if" breaking in my favor and I'll make any team a contender.
Well, there are some clubs that are bad enough where that probably isn't true, ha.

4:17
Yes  Jeff, people do listen to what Mike Francesa says
Jeffrey Todd
4:17
That is surprising to me, I guess. But I don't really consume much TV/radio.
4:18
I thought people just sort of enjoyed listening to him argue and rant without really taking his opinions seriously.
Based on his (apparent) Yankees take ... not sure I'd respect his viewpoint.

You didn’t answer the question before, who wins the NL Central?
Jeffrey Todd
4:19
NLC champs?

Cubs (47% | 79 votes)

Brewers (38.7% | 65 votes)

Cards (14.3% | 24 votes)

Total Votes: 168
4:20
Yeah at this stage ... I tend to just think whoever has the advantage in the standings is likeliest.
4:21
So I'd go Cubs-Brewers-Cards. But I haven't analyzed the remaining schedule or anything. And clearly MIL is in a very solid spot to make a move.
WANTED: Tim Dierkes
4:21
Where has Tim been?  He's too quiet.  He should do a chat.
Jeffrey Todd
4:22
I imagine he's still holed up in his secret lair, getting ready to burst when arbitration projections and free agent top-50 season finally arrives.

What are the chances the Red Sox get Arenado in free agency
Jeffrey Todd
4:22
Ask me in like 13 months.

4:23
why are you a Giant hater?  Grow up in LA?  You guys were haters in 2010, 2012 and 2014 so we take your thoughts with a grain of salt.
Jeffrey Todd
4:23
Oh I love this game.
4:24
I mean, I actually really kind of have a soft spot for the Giants, if I'm being honest.
Francesa
4:24
Yes they do. Todd who
Jeffrey Todd
4:24
If he responds to my criticism, it means I am cool, right? Ha.
4:25
Ok couple more and I have to run ...
Chris
4:25
Do you have unofficial GM rankings or anything?  Would MO rank highly if you did?
Jeffrey Todd
4:26
No. And you know ... I think it's often ignored how big our blind spots are on these guys. They are dealing with ownership on everything and there are lots of areas we don't know about. Just worth keeping in mind.
Cubbie Blue
4:28
Is there any way cubs pick up the option on Hammels?
Jeffrey Todd
4:29
Would be interesting to be a fly on the wall. I think there is a chance, because it really isn't a huge amount of money -- unless they'd have to pay the Rangers back on the buyout or something. Don't believe I've seen any indication of that.
4:30
If you buy any amount of the improved Hamels, it isn't a huge stretch to see him the way teams once viewed Kuroda or AJ Burnett or whatever. I think he'll probably be a multi-year FA. So one year at a fairly hefty but manageable salary? For a team that needs the innings? Certainly possible.
The Wonderful about Tigers!
4:30
Is there a normal deadline to identify a PTBNL? The Tigers are still owed a PTBNL (or cash) from the A's for the Fiers Sale.
