Seriously, though, it's hard to imagine any one team wanting both of those players.

Talk my friends off the ledge, will Pirates see peak Archer, current Archer, or something in between over the next two years?  I say wait until next year before we think to much about it.
Jeffrey Todd
3:35
I agree with your take. He's doing the same thing he has for some time now, falling shy of peripherals. Maybe they can sit down over the offseason and try to figure out how to turn the talent back into elite production? Worst case, he's still easily worth his salary.

The Rays have been kicking butt lately. Do they make any big offseason moves to contend next year?
Jeffrey Todd
3:37
The interesting thing is that they have basically no money on the books next year (or beyond). I wouldn't expect any huge, multi-year signings. But they could splash some coin on shorter-term guys.

Which impending FA's do you predict to receive QOs?  Harper is obvious.  Grandal?
Jeffrey Todd
3:38
Without running through the whole list ... yes, I think Grandal will get one. Too good not to. Dodgers would gladly pay him 17+ for one year (and will instead expect draft comp, or re-sign him).

WHY ARE YOU IGNORING ME!?!? WHY DO YOU HATE MY QUESTIONS!?!? WHY DO YOU DESPISE... (INSERT TEAM HERE)
Jeffrey Todd

This is so obviously fake ... too soon. Haha

Fiers, Cahill or Edwin?  Or maybe they all pitch 2 Innings each?
Jeffrey Todd
3:40
If they just throw them all out there, with lefties and late-inning relievers in between, maybe it just works like a side session for most of the starters and everybody can come back if they advance?

I'm getting drunk in the Jacksonville airport. Any advice?
Jeffrey Todd
3:42
That sounds both depressing and surprisingly uplifting. Just don't think too hard and try to make the best of it.

Corey Dickerson get an extension from Bucs this off-season ?
Jeffrey Todd
3:42
Nah
One more arb year sounds about right.
Bryce sweepstakes
3:43
Do the Giants have to trade away Hunter Strickland first before approaching Bryce in Free Agency?
Jeffrey Todd
3:43
Y'know, the more I think about it, I really feel like the Giants aren't in any position to be going after Bryce.

What do the Cardinals do with Dexter Fowler next year?
Jeffrey Todd
3:44
This is a very interesting question. I still think he has a good chance of bouncing back. But are they going to give him the playing time to do it? And will anyone take much salary before he's shown something on the field? Really good candidate for a bad contract swap of some kind, not that I have thought out who that'd be with.
3:45
Okay I will give a team and a player that I could fathom some bad contract swapping scenarios on ... Mark Melancon.
There's some merit to exploring that, on paper, for both teams.
Andrew Freidman
3:46
Wouldn't the best plan be to talk to Corey Seager about moving to 2B and resigning Machado? Bryce seems like he would common more money in an already crowded outfield, superior glove on Machado too.
Jeffrey Todd
3:46
Doubt they feel like they have to have either one. I assume they have a price and a scenario for both, though.
3:47
Gotta take care of something real quick ... brb!

Phillies biggest offseason need?
Jeffrey Todd
3:49
It's sort of weak to say it, but they need a high-end player I think. They have the money and the broad talent spread. It's not so much a single position ... just, need to shoehorn a 6-WAR dude in there!
3:50
Fulmer = knee surgery
just had to get that on the site ... and now you know, as well

If you could give the Rays any player, who would it be? Why? How would they utilize him?
Jeffrey Todd

Ohtani, duh
Michael Lorenzen?

Can anyone stop the Orioles
Jeffrey Todd

From 110 losses?

More likely to stay an Oriole: Buck or Duquette?
Jeffrey Todd
3:53
I'll guess Buck, but really, I guess neither.
Cole Man
3:53
There is 0% chance the Cubs don't keep Cole Hamels for next season, right?
Jeffrey Todd
3:54
Not quite. The real question for me isn't even the performance the rest of the way, but... I still haven't seen it reported anywhere whether the Rangers are paying the buyout regardless of what happens? Would change  the cost a fair bit; think it's a $6MM tab.
Andrew Freidman
3:55
Doesn't a trade of Max Muncy after this season make too much sense? 33 HRs right now his value couldn't be higher!
Jeffrey Todd
3:56
I mean, the Dodgers know how to utilize guys like that to full effect. This sport isn't all about getting value for guys on the back end, it's mostly about getting value out of them on your roster at an affordable rate of pay.
