If Susan Slusser says so (as she did), then absolutely it's plausible.
That said, it's not a good omen for A's fans.
4:39
Because it means Suzuki is going to be traded to the Nationals this summer, which means the A's will have fallen out of contention.
(Just jokes b/c the A's and Nats swap Suzuki back and forth like neighbors sharing flour.)
Cancelled flight
4:40
Stuck in Airport with cancelled flight - thanks for being here. Do you think the Yanks payroll to start the season will be around $230M, if so is Corbin and Harper (1B) a possibility or hugely unlikely
Jeffrey Todd
4:41
Normally I don't pick questions to answer based upon the situation of the questioner, but these are compelling circumstances.
I don't expect the Yanks will set a number and then spend up to it. I think it's a floating target and that they'll do what is necessary to get the roster in the shape they want it to be.
4:42
Still see them as only a dark horse on Harper, though they are surely the top contender for Corbin if they really want him.

I still have not seen anyone address Harpers lack of either ability or desire on defense.   You are suggesting a team pay 400 mil to a black hole in the corner OF, and his offense is rollercoaster from Great to Junk to Average (rinse, repeat).   Are you basing this entirely on his age and that he has had 2 great years in the MLB so far?
Jeffrey Todd
4:45
I don't agree re lack of ability. He has been good in the OF before. Obviously shouldn't really be in CF. The basis for the opinion is not simply his one unreal season; it's that the overall accumulation of hitting results suggests he'll continue to be a top-end hitter for many years to come. The ceiling certainly factors into the mean expectation. He'll have some big years and some lesser ones, no doubt.

Does Kyle Tucker have a better chance of being traded this year than last after his short performance on the major league level last year.  Possible they might package him in a Realmuto trade?
Jeffrey Todd
4:47
I don't think that brief sample changes anything. He still raked at Triple-A. I don't think he's completey untouchable, but they haven't moved their very top prospects under Luhnow. And I'm not sure they'd see the value of doing so in a Realmuto deal when Tucker is a near-term roster fit and anticipated contributor who also has loads of long-term value.

Is it even worth asking a question half an hour into a chat? Like will you ever get to this question with all the questions you get?
Jeffrey Todd
4:48
I just did!!!
4:49
I try to skip around somewhat.
Going to jump to the end right now.
Rizzo

Why would Marlins take Robles for JTR? Seems dumb on their part.
Jeffrey Todd
4:50
I don't understand. I mean, I get it if they think they can hold out for more or don't particularly love Robles. But in general ... what is the point of holding JTR? Now is the time to sell him unless he's willing to agree to a really team-friendly extension (he's not).
6 MAN ROTATION
4:51
Will the Angels still go with the 6 man rotation this year even though Othani is out?
Jeffrey Todd
4:52
Has any team really ever used a true 6-man rotation for more than a few weeks? I think there could be an increasing willingness to blow up the 5-man but I'm not sure that is replaced with a 6-man anywhere. They will be pressed enough finding 5 worthy starters, anyway.
Votto Trade
4:53
After Harper and Machado get their money, say $30 mil a year, does that put the Reds in a better position to trade Joey Votto and his $25 million? Yankees need a first basemen.
Jeffrey Todd
4:53
Zero indication that's a realistic possibility.

Rockies hopeful

Gray and Tapia for Realmuto. Who says no
Jeffrey Todd
4:55
Marlins need more youthful assets.
Dick Williams
4:56
Reports say I have interest in Josh Harrison. He is just a bench piece for me right?
Jeffrey Todd
4:57
Yeah ... I like that kind of player as a fit on the roster. There are some solid players out there that could warrant 400+ PA in a utility-ish role.
B. Cash
4:57
Stanton, sonny gray, gleyber torres, justus Sheffield for Walker buehler  and julio urias. Who says no?
Jeffrey Todd
4:58
I'm getting increasing numbers of really convoluted trades.
Which means it's time ...
... to finally try a lightning round of "who says no?"
You throw out the trade scenario that you came up with and deep down really think could make sense.
I tell you it's wrong.
Ready. Set. Go.
