Like, they'd just accept those two players? I don't think so.
How much would Chatwood get in FA right now? Matt Moore just went for 1/2.5.
3:44
And we know about Russell, who's a NT candidate with an off-field issue that will make many teams a hard pass.

If the Braves sign a solid OF'er (Brantley, McCutchen) and address the bullpen, are they the favorite of the NL East now?
Jeffrey Todd
3:45
Think we will need to wait and see what the other 3 potential divisional contenders do. Most likely, it's going to be a brawl. Don't expect any one club to stand out, as the Nats have for the most part in recent years.

Hi Jeff, Happy Holiday’s. If Evoldi decides to re-up with the Red Sox. Do you see them try to deal Porcello? If so who’s interested?
Jeffrey Todd
3:46
You too. I don't see a need to bump an existing guy to make room. Least of all Porcello. He's a solid piece for them and still makes sense right where he is.
Hopeless
3:48
You think Johan Comargo and the Padres is an actual fit?
Jeffrey Todd
3:48
I think the Braves realize they are best off with depth in the middle infield -- Dansby isn't full established and Culberson isn't likely to repeat his '18 season and injuries happen and now they can mix and match -- and won't be in any rush to move Camargo.

If the Bucs trade Cervelli do you think that gives a chance of them going after any bigger FAs than we thought previously with the money freed up?
Jeffrey Todd
3:49
I was surprised to see that. My own thinking was that he's sort of a tough guy to move ... on a team that wants to win now, was so good last year but has the concussion issues, etc.
3:50
I mean, if they trade Cervelli and open the payroll space, I'd probably be sitting here thinking of what players they could add who'd be semi-luxuries on one or two-year deals at positions that aren't strict needs but where they could stand to improve.
3:51
Without Cervelli ... he'd be the type of guy I'd think they'd want. So, I don't know, I guess they'd re-allocate the $ but I don't know exactly why they'd do this barring a surprising trade haul.
Van Wagenen/Syndergaard
3:51
Is MLB going to look into whether BVW had privileged info on Syndergaard's future plans? Trading him doesn't seem to make sense, but what if, as his agent, Noah said he's not staying in NY?
Jeffrey Todd
3:52
I am sure the league could have foreseen all the possible issues. So I don't anticipate any anticipatory investigation, since that would have happened already. But there are a host of potentially thorny issues that could arise depending upon the course of things with particular players. Will be fascinating to watch!
Neal Huntington
3:54
Archer to NYY for two rehabs and a unwanted cast-off: Montgomery, Frazier and Gray.
Jeffrey Todd
3:55
Then why did they get him in the first place? This is about as close as the Yankees could get to a package that mirrors what the Bucs sent to TB last summer.
Yep
3:55
How underwater is the Cano contract? and with so many FR relievers, why not invest there instead of coupling with Diaz?
Jeffrey Todd
3:56
My initial thought was that I'd guess Cano could get 3/45 in FA. I think Tim and Steve feel he could get more ... I can see that, but also would hew conservative given the PED thing and his age. But generally, we're talking like $70MM in the red.

The Indians trade Trevor Bauer to the Yankees for Miguel Andujar, Clint Frazier, Estevan Florial, and Chance Adams/Tommy Kahnle. Would this trade work? Who would say no?
Jeffrey Todd
3:57
Yankees won't give that much
Bryce Harper
3:58
Am i the reason the Mets are looking to trade Thor? I know its documented we dont like each other
Jeffrey Todd
3:58
I'd be stunned if that had anything to do with it. More importantly, Bryce and Noah seem like perfect bro buddies.
Troy
3:59
Has Pollock scared some teams away or is this the typical banter between agent and teams? I want at minimum to be paid like Cain.
Jeffrey Todd
3:59
The report was that he's seeking something approaching Cain. As an asking price, that's totally reasonable.
Cubs Win
4:00
Do the Cubs have a bank roll problem or is this just smoke from Theo on free agency ?
Jeffrey Todd
4:00
If it's smoke, it's very heavy smoke, but I am also a bit skeptical that they are jut going to pick around the edges.
And there goes La Stella ... to the Angels
derek
4:02
Do you think the Cardinals will try to trade Fowler? Is there even a market for him?
Jeffrey Todd
4:03
See above-linked big contract trade candidates. I think he's a guy many teams would love to take a shot on in a salary swap deal.
Cubs/Chatty would make sense there, except I'm told those teams don't get on well with one another.

4:04
Does a Cam Bedrosian and Kole Calhoun for Teheran deal make sense for both clubs? Or not what the Braves are looking for?
Jeffrey Todd
4:05
My suspicion is that the Braves will wait to decide what to do with Teheran until they have (they hope) landed a strong SP. I think they'll be able to get someone to pick up the $ pretty easily. He could be moved in some trade that isn't really about him, first and foremost, as well ... another reason not to rush into putting him on the block.
4:06
As for those guys, I mean ... I don't know if Calhoun is really what they are looking for. They could more or less dump Teheran's salary on another club, so would you then go take on what Calhoun is owed? Seems expensive.
4:07
(That extension was one that I believed was a great deal for the team at the time. Just holdin' myself accountable!)
lolmets
4:07
Patterson being put on waivers indicates a mets trade is imminent, yeah?
Jeffrey Todd
4:07
Meh ... more likely they grabbed him and figured they'd put him on waivers right off the bat.

Whats a team that you would like to see take a flyer on Michael A Taylor as an every day outfielder? Huge speed and great defense, has shown legit pop, had a nice year in 17
Jeffrey Todd

White Sox?
