So the Braves got Donaldson and McCann and then stood pat at the winter meetings, what can I get from this as a Braves fan? Should I be worried that after an initial bang, they'll settle for minor upgrades in SP, RP and OF?
Jeffrey Todd
4:11
AA wasn't even there yesterday!!!
4:12
For real, though, I wouldn't worry at all. Deals can happen at any time and these days teams circle and circle and play with so many different scenarios ... not like many other teams made huge moves, either.

Any Nelson Cuz thoughts? Does the Morton signing affect the Rays as a suitor?
Jeffrey Todd
4:15
To an extent it just shows they are really in for the near-term. Always made sense for them to add high-priced, short-term vets. Still think Cruz can fit, though they may be more inclined to take a guy they think can bounce back who won't cost as much (b/c their current team will eat part of the contract).

Any chance the Yankees and Didi work out a 2 year extension? Seems to make sense for both sides. Didi guarantees a contract post his TJ recovery, and the Yankees get another year to make sure he's back to form.
Jeffrey Todd
4:16
Don't think that makes much sense for Didi. He should have plenty of time to show he's at full health in 2019, then hit the open market in search of a big deal. Why give away the first FA season?

If the Nats don't sign a pretty good fourth starter, last night's trade could be disastrous for 2019, couldn't it?
Jeffrey Todd
4:17
The Nats didn't make that move without knowing they were going to make one or more other additions.

What are the chances Whit Merrifield gets moved this offseason?
Jeffrey Todd
4:19
GMDM says nobody is even calling anymore b/c he turns them all away. So.
Mets
4:20
Is there much chatter on the mets pursuing a Britton/Miller?
Jeffrey Todd
4:20
BrodieVW said today they are probably done with big relief additions. So, I think they'll be looking for value elsewhere.

Are there any comps for a possible Acuna extension?
Jeffrey Todd
4:22
Not really. He doesn't have much reason to do it unless there are family situations we don't know about. But hey, why not give it a try?
Gonna take a few more and then shift my full attention back to the site ...

Rumors braves are interested. What would be a good return for the Tigers?
Jeffrey Todd
4:24
Could be a good match there if the Braves can hold their noses when he's in the field. Tigers really can't expect too much in return but Braves could easily afford to give up a high-level arm (not that it's  a specific need for DET) or lower-level lotto ticket.
4:25
Really can't see the Braves going wild for Castellanos. What they could do would be to get him for a palatable rate, jettison Duvall (non-guaranteed arb deal), and then add another piece. Could be a more significant player, leaving 3 guys (w/Ender) to cover the two non-Acuna spots.

My money will be cool but I cant help but think how much Trout would make if he was free... Care to guess?
Jeffrey Todd
4:27
Man ... if he was a FA right now? I mean, easily 500+. With all the bells and whistles (no-trade, opt-outs, etc). He's unmatched in terms of year-in/year-out productivity.

In your opinion, do you still on board with the MLBTR prediction of Harper to Dodgers? Same money or something different like 4-5 years 40MM a season instead of long term?
Jeffrey Todd
4:29
Thing is, that high-AAV approach isn't always beneficial for a team. Keeps the risk in a tight band, thus increasing the impact of a significant injury. And it especially hurts when it comes time to calculating the CBA tax, which is why the Dodgers have spent so much energy working out money-swapping deals of late. Arguably, in some regards, it's preferable to do a much bigger total guarantee on a longer timeline.

Why don’t you learn how to type so you can go a bit quicker Methuselah
Jeffrey Todd
4:32
I'm a very fast typer. Any lag in the chats comes from scrolling through questions and the fact that I still need to keep an eye on other things while doing them.
To be honest, though, I don't always formulate my thoughts as quickly as I type. But generally that doesn't slow me down much, I don't think.

Wow no love for the Goldy trade?
Jeffrey Todd

Did I say I didn't like it? I was asked for my favorite deal. Felt Segura accomplished quite a bit for the Phillies.

The big trade of the day is in the local sports talk all afternoon.  My question is, if Harper goes to Chicago, will Cleveland pull the trigger with a starter and go after Machado?
Jeffrey Todd

Guys ...
no, on these

over under Pirates make a serious offer on Jed Lowrie, flowed by likely hood that he accepts it?
Jeffrey Todd

Seems spendy. Not as if they don't have pieces in MI. But they do have some free cash and he'd fit.
4:37
I am scrolling and scrolling for something I want to answer and not finding it ... and I need to go. So, let's end it here.

Thanks as always! Maybe the slow WM action will leave us 12 days of Christmas to unwrap deals.
