Similar situation there, really. Right now, the Braves and Nats look to be the best teams on paper. Phillies could still catch up, certainly, with lots of offseason still to come. And the Mets aren't far off of those teams, really. Though I am not quite as optimistic as their new GM seems to be, I always felt their baseline was pretty solid to begin with.

Why am I not signed yet? Many teams with needs at second, solid track record with the bat, gold glover...are teams prioritizing other needs?
Jeffrey Todd
3:39
Really think there are just too many options out there surrounding him ... why would a team go the extra mile (give the extra year) to land DJLM over any of the other possibilities? They'll wait and hope he settles for less.

If Bumgarner was a FA, what expected contract does he command?
Jeffrey Todd
3:40
3/60 with opt-out after year 1?
3:41
We predicted 4/82 for Keuchel. I think MadBum would prioritize the chance to return to the market after what he'd expect to be a bounceback year.
It's a tough one to predict, for sure. I'd just guess he'd basically be looking for a one-year deal, but would have enough leverage to secure a sort of fallback guarantee. Think the first Cespedes FA deal with the Mets.

will it get worse before it gets better in Baltimore???

Not very far to fall after that awful 2018 season, but ... buckle up.

Profar and Mazara are trade candidates...where are they going?
Jeffrey Todd
3:44
Could imagine a fair number of landing spots for Profar ... have this nagging sense of Braves being a likely fit on Mazara, but it's pure feel.
3:45
Pads have DFA'ed Clayton Richard to make room for Kinsler.
BRB, going to get that on the site real quick.

Why has there been no talk on CarGo?
Jeffrey Todd
3:47
I guess .... why would there be? He's behind quite a few players on the market.

Looking into your crystal ball. are Kluber/Bauer on the Indians open day roster.  If not who is the one that's most likely traded
Jeffrey Todd
3:49
I'll guess yes. They don't have the financial imperative anymore, it seems, so perhaps the continued talks are more about getting someone to overpay. It's definitely possible to imagine a deal that works for the Indians involving a young, high-end position player, but harder to see how such an agreement would make sense for the team giving up such a player.
3:51
I mean, take Senzel/Reds scenario ... that might make sense if we were talking about a team that was ready to go guns blazing for the WS for the next 3 years and already had a strong infield mix. But are the Reds really in a position to give up a player like that at this stage, for 3 not-cheap years of great but not-young Kluber?
3:52
That said ... you can probably make a case for an obvious contender to go after a deal. Dodgers, Astros, maybe Nats could still make sense in some scenarios. Wouldn't sleep on it.

Won't everyone be surprised when we emerge as the "mystery team" for Bryce?!
Jeffrey Todd
3:53
I think they would be, yeah. As it is, I find it sort of hilarious to see him talking about "action vs inaction" or whatever when signing Wilson Ramos, who got half of what the Mets gave Jay Bruce and about the same as what they gave Todd Frazier last winter. Not like that was a whole new kind of signing or something.
3:54
Numerous Mets beat reporters pointed out today that Manny especially makes sense, and if the Mets really are going for bold winning focus, etc, he'd be an obvious target.

Hearing lots of rumors that if the contract is short term STL would go after Harper. How likely do you thing the cardinals make another splash on a hitter?
Jeffrey Todd
3:55
What does short term mean? Why wouldn't lots and lots of other teams also be in on such a scenario?

How much will it cost to sign Kikuchi?
Jeffrey Todd
3:57
Seems to be a robust and broad market. But no indication that teams see him as an impact starter. I still like our original prediction of a longer/lighter deal, though I may be creeping up a bit on expectations. Maybe 6/54 or something?

if the white sox miss on MACHADO AND HARPER what can they do to interest  A DYING FAN BASE THIS YEAR
Jeffrey Todd
4:00
They could probably send out a bunch of prospects in some wild trade scenarios, but that'd be silly and isn't what they want to do. They want to spend ... but maybe not enough to get those players to buy into a rebuilding situation.
If they check down in FA, Grandal looks like a good target. But is that really exciting for fans? Wouldn't seem to check that box.

The StL media and Cardinals brass are all aboard the "We have faith in Dexter Fowler" train. This seems like a clear indication they are out of the Harper sweepstakes. Do you think they would take posturing to this level?
Jeffrey Todd
4:02
I think they probably feel they made their big move. And really do think that Fowler can bounce back, which seems reasonable to me. They don't have much choice but to try, honestly.
Not to say they couldn't also get Harper, but it gets complicated quickly.
