Machado first
Those are my guesses, anyway.

Puig, Lux, and Wood for Kluber with LA eating some money. Who says no?
Jeffrey Todd
4:05
Man I see some wild scenarios undervaluing Kluber and the Indians' sense of their own dignity.

If Felipe Vazquez were available, and considering his contract, where would you rank him among Kimbrel, Britton and Miller?   If traded, would he fetch the Bucs a young impact bat?
Jeffrey Todd
4:07
He's so much younger that he'd be ahead of all of them, probably even Kimbrel (in total value, not AAV). Value ... look at the Brad Hand deal.

why are the Rockies standing pat? That's not showing Arenado that are a contender
Jeffrey Todd
4:09
I don't think their motivation lies in proving anything to Arenado, who probably won't sign anyway unless they put a whopping sum on the table. Also I don't think there's any indication they are standing pat. If anything, signs are they are looking hard to add a 1B, at least. Clearly also need a RH-hitting OF, though that could come from moving Desmond onto the grass.

What do you think the Tigers do with Castellanos?
Jeffrey Todd
4:09
I'll guess he's held in hopes he becomes a trade deadline asset.
4:10
Going to grab a few more and then I have to be on my way ...

Aren’t we a match made in heaven? Does a trade for Haniger shed light on what a potential trade for Trout would look like?
Jeffrey Todd
4:11
Absolutely think these teams should and will explore Haniger scenarios. They have worked out deals of late. He's a very sensible OF target for ATL, though it'll obviously cost.
But no, it would tell us nothing at all about Mike Trout.

Do you think NYY will get some value from trading Gray?
Jeffrey Todd
4:13
They seem to have a good market for him. But then you look at Roark going for little, Harvey/Cahill signing for just one year, and you start to wonder why any team would really pay much to take on Gray's salary with just one year of control.

Do chats kill the boredom of a slow off season
Jeffrey Todd
4:14
Not clear that this offseason is slow, so much as more spread out. Last winter had a hard-to-take dead period. We're still seeing movement.

Am I righteous in getting mad at people who say Betts is as good as Trout or am I just a salty Yankee fan
Jeffrey Todd
4:16
It is insane to argue that Betts is as good as Trout, so you are correct. The reason I say this is not that Betts has not shown he can be as good (he has) or that he is not capable of establishing himself as Trout's true equal or superior (he may be). It's that it utterly ignores the track record of Trout, which is as good as any player in baseball history to this stage of his career.
4:17
When it comes to setting expectations for 2019, 2020, etc ... you have to build in a much greater amount of uncertainty for Mookie. And I say this as someone who really, really appreciates Mookie's whole game and persona. Love the guy.

You dont think MadBum could get half of what Corbin got if a FA now?
Jeffrey Todd
4:19
I think he could get more than what I guessed if we weren't talking about a one-year opt-out, but I don't think it'd be enough to change his mind about what kind of contract to pursue. Teams have to make decisions based upon what they saw most recently, in addition to track record, and at last look Corbin was very very good while MadBum was very mortal in terms of present skill.

Realmuto to Colorado, thoughts?
Jeffrey Todd
4:21
Great fit. Wave goodbye to Rodgers+, though.
Rangers fan
4:22
Realistically.  What can the Rangers expect in a trade for Mike Minor or Nomar Mazzara
Jeffrey Todd
4:23
Minor is a useful starter/impressive reliever who isn't cheap. Mazara is really talented but hasn't turned it on fully and is only bringing 3 years of control. So ... don't think it'd be super exciting in either case. But both certainly have value.
4:24
Okay folks, I do have to be on my way. Thanks as always!
