I'm not sure you could assemble a more health-questionable group of starters, but sure, it is theoretically possible.

You are a fake Bill Simmons. Questions about Ramen noodles? Dumb questions answered because they used your name? Your chats suck now. Back to Fangraphs for better content.

I don't write anything remotely in his style. I am a boring old lawyer. But two questions in an informal chat have you calling me a fake Bill Simmons? Goodness.

Some people on the internet need to lighten up,  seriously.

Are you a fan of automated balls and strikes?
Jeffrey Todd
4:16
Would want to see it in practice but pretty much NOPE. I just envision a massive change to the feel and flow of the game. Catchers jumping around to receive in a manner that is most conducive to blocking or throwing, etc. Would mess with the whole aesthetic, I fear.

Hi Jeffrey, love the chats! Will the pirates make the post season this year? Thank you

I'd have to direct you to my comments on the Reds above. See them in much the same boat in terms of 2019 outlook.
26th Man
4:18
Do you like the 26th man but then rosters only going to 28 after 9/1?
Jeffrey Todd

I definitely like limiting the late-season roster expansion. That was just silly. The 26th man will be interesting. Opens the door to some interesting guys whose skillsets are more limited -- burly sluggers, speed demons, etc. Could be fun from both a game-watching and market-watching perspective.

does Senzel make the Reds out of Spring Training or does he get two weeks in AAA for "additional reps"
Jeffrey Todd
4:21
I'd guess they let him go down there and really get a lot of reps in just to make sure he's really fully comfortable in center field and OH HAS IT BEEN TWO WEEKS YOU LOOK READY
4:22
They do have enough options that they could give him more time in AAA.  And getting him cozy in the OF honestly isn't the worst idea.

You say the Indians have the easiest path to a division title? Have you seen my bat this spring training? Don’t overlook the Twins!
Jeffrey Todd
4:26
I don't overlook them. (And I'm not being swayed by Buck's ST hitting. The Twins have talent and upside apart from 30 PAs from him.) But there are more competitive teams in the west so I still think it's a bit tougher overall. Of course the Astros also look a fair bit better than the Indians, which is why I picked them.

Why use more words when few words do trick?

Leaving out "the" seems aggressive, but thanks for your input.

People always harp on the Bonilla deal, but it was actually a good idea to renegotiate. It lowered the NPV. Everyone seems to realize the importance of NPV when they talk about how the Nats deal wasn't as good as advertise, even though they would've been paying him for more years. No one seems to acknowledge it with the Bonilla deal
Jeffrey Todd

I wasn't offering any opinion on the Bonilla situation, to be clear. But I agree that standard financial assessment should be applied to decisions of that kind.
(Also many people seem not to understand or appreciate that element of the Nats contract strategy.)

Does Gio take a minor league deal?
Jeffrey Todd

Nah

Okay I really do have to run along. Thanks as always!
