I finally got my 11-year-old son to understand that all you can do is hit the ball hard. That took forever........he thought he was supposed to get a hit every time or he was a failure. He loves the game.

So now he knows that he's only a failure if he doesnt hit the ball hard, which is correct.

Yes it's much the same as what we discuss here at the early stages of the season. There are many things going better or worse in the standings that don't necessarily reflect all that well or poorly on a team. Then there are some actually encouraging/concerning things to pay more heed to.
Anyway ... thank you all for indulging some dad commentary.
