You left me? And for Virginia?
Jeffrey Todd

Family is back east, alas. But Roanoke VA is an awesome little town, really love it here.

Why did they DFA Yefry Ramirez instead of letting him take Strailey or Hess's spot in the rotation?
Jeffrey Todd
4:11
It's easy to look at it that way -- why dump the young guy? But I think this front office must be fixated on getting long-term value, so I doubt it was a truly short-sighted move. More likely, they didn't think Ramirez had it and/or felt this was an easy moment to get him through waivers. And there is some value in having a more experienced Straily type on the roster.

Is it crazy to suggest releasing A.J. Pollock and eating/deferring the money?
Jeffrey Todd
4:12
Yeah why would they do that? There's no upside at all. You don't get to just declare money deferred. They'd just keep paying him, except he'd have a chance to work back to health and perform for another team -- meaning a competitor could benefit for de minimus cost.

Hi Jeff, with all due respect, we don't really care what you guys think the Giants could get for Shark, Madbum, Smith, et al.  The Giants, if they do decide to trade them, esp Bum, will get plenty for a proven post-season performer ... mark my words.

With all due respect ... why are you here? I'm obviously not deciding what they get for these guys, but what would you suggest we discuss in this MLB Trade Rumors chat room?

How bad does losing Simmons hurt the halos? Will they ever get decent luck with injuries?
Jeffrey Todd
4:17
It's pretty devastating. They needed a lot to go right to stay in contention.

People are asking me to trade Inciarte but do you think I should trade Donaldson instead and move Riley to 3rd?
Jeffrey Todd

C. None of the above

Greetings Jeff from the Dominican Republic, love your chats. Are the Braves the frontrunners of signing Kimbrel after the draft? Does he really improve the bullpen significantly?
Jeffrey Todd
4:20
Thanks for joining. I have a hard time calling the Braves the front-runner on Kimbrel given their approach thus far. He's also still reportedly looking for multiple years. I still feel like the Braves are likelier to do a significant trade. Wouldn't write them off on Kimbrel, just not a situation to me where they make obvious sense.

Is there any light at the end of the tunnel for the lowly Tigers? Why doesn't Avila scour the wavier wire more?
Jeffrey Todd
4:21
There was never much hope that much of interest was going to happen at the MLB level this year. Sure, you sometimes catch lightning in a bottle but that's hard to expect. Keep an eye on the top-end young pitching in the upper minors if you want to feel hopeful.

Do you like the orioles pickup of Keon Broxton?
Jeffrey Todd

I mean, sure, give him a shot. He hasn't had steady MLB time in a while. But ... good odds it falls flat.
Okay folks I have to run. Appreciate it as always!
