What position do you see the Phils going after first CF, SP, RP or even 3B (and moving Kingery to CF)?
Jeffrey Todd
3:16
Well I think they definitely ought to be looking for a significant position player. Options ... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/06/replacing-andrew-mccutchen.html
I love the idea of Whit Merrifield, personally.

Couple more here and I have to run ...

Did you see the Peter Lambert start? This could be huge for the Rockies!
Jeffrey Todd
3:19
I'm not going to tell you not to be excited by that kind of debut, but you also have to look at what he has done in the upper minors lately.

I'm in line at DMV, so please have mercy and weigh in on this trade proposal: Stroman and Giles for Royce Lewis, Brusdar Graterol, and Nick Gordon
Jeffrey Todd

I am here for any Arrested Development fan stuck at the DMV.

Feels like a big ask from the Twins. Don't see them shedding that much prospect value.

Jeffress went back to Miwaukee (from Texas.)  Could Hand go back to SD?
Jeffrey Todd
3:22
Vastly different circumstances but sure.
Thoughts?
3:24
Clint Frazier for Syndergaard?
Jeffrey Todd
3:24
Guessing you are a Yankees fan.
3:25
Not trying to disparage the question or fans of the team. Just ... the way it is phrased suggests you were thinking about whether the Yanks can cash in Frazier for a good arm. And that you were thinking, hey, maybe Noah's struggles make that a possible match.
And I think the answer is rather clearly no. Even if the Mets decide to sell low-ish on Syndergaard and give up on the season, Frazier would seem an odd fit.
3:26
(As would the Yankees, of course.)

Hey, my MLBTR iOS app stopped sending notifications. What gives?

Use the contact form or twitter, include as much info (screenshots if possible) as you can, and we'll try to get it to people that can help.

What's to prevent Team A, a non-contender, from letting a player go to Team B, a contender, on wavers in August, then a couple of days later, acquiring a non-40-man-roster minor leaguer from Team B for cash?
Jeffrey Todd
3:28
Only one Robert D. Manfred Jr.

Any chances the Giants actually deal for the sake of attaining MLB ready talent, or do you think they'll mostly stick to close but not quite there prospects?
Jeffrey Todd
3:29
Believe they will focus on value first and foremost, however that can be had.
Actually I should just write an article with that title.

Thanks for the Pence response. I'm not saying I thought he would hit like he is right now, but I expected about replacement level or as you mention, a decent outfield reserve. I just recall this past year almost everyone saying he was all spent up after the bad 2018 in SF.
Jeffrey Todd
3:30
Well it probably was fair to an extent. The collapse was pretty widespread. He had obviously been quite good for a long time, but injuries and wear and tear and general old(er) age do unfortunate things to one's ability to hit baseballs.

Why do the tigers have to trade Boyd like they all say? Couldn't they build around him.
Jeffrey Todd
3:34
I don't think they absolutely have to trade him. Maybe the offers really aren't great. In that case, yeah, hang onto him if you believe in him more than other teams.
3:35
But otherwise, just from a structural standpoint it makes sense. He's a pitcher, so he's risky by nature. And the breakout thing adds to the uncertainty because the long track record isn't that of a top-line guy. He's not super youthful. Going to get expensive but the remaining control will appeal quite a bit to the right team. And the Tigers are stacked in rotation prospects ... but otherwise don't seem terribly likely to win in the next 2 years.
3:36
Okay folks I gotta run! Thanks as always.
