All cashmere jokes aside, it is actually not the least interesting idea. The last thing the Rangers ought to do is give up young talent for improvements. They know they aren't really all that likely even to crack the wild card game. But hey, who knows? Why not take on a little money and see if you can keep things going? Cashner did have success in Texas. He could legit be utilized either as a late-inning reliever or in some kind of creative multi-inning capacity. Let's get weird.
Oh, and Kashmir really should be a closer entrance tune.

In some sense, sure, but they'd have him there if they felt it gave them the best 25-man roster. And it's not hard to see why they don't given their array of players.

I really think teams will be wary. Opposing hitters have a .116 BABIP! I mean, credit to him for that as well, but that is utterly unsustainable. He has rather uninspiring numbers for the most part, beyond the ERA and saves.
