Deferred money counts towards the luxury tax over the "real" length of the contract.  Otherwise, every team would refer money as a way of circumventing the CBT.

Do you and other people predict the marlins will be the worst team in the NL again this year, or will we improve to the point that we will not be a doormat to most teams? I need some hope this christmas

Sorry to say, but Miami still looks like the worst of the bunch to me.  It doesn't help that almost the entire NL is competitive, or has designs on making the postseason in 2020.  

Unless the Pirates or an unexpected team go into full rebuild, the Marlins should still be bringing up the rear

Seems like big market reporters always overhype the value of their players (Clint Frazier - couldn't even crack the majors when the Yanks entire outfield was on IL, Joc Pederson = platoon player, etc) Agree?

As much as the Rays like to be aggressive with their prospects, I'd lean towards no.  He hasn't played above high-A ball

Yes I'm a Yankees fan just deal with it... I feel that the Yankees need to make two more offseason move I say pick up a  left handed batter and one more bullpen piece that my opinion

Reliever, sure.  A lefty hitter, yes on paper, though that lineup is crowded enough that you'd also have to displace someone

Edgar should've been in the HOF years before his actual induction.  And I agree that Ortiz is going in in his first year of eligibility
