The roster would look so much better with Kingery pairing with Haseley/floating around the infield.

Bask in the glory of the riches you have secured?
8:42
Really, the Yanks aren't in much of a position to add to the roster, per se. They have pretty much everything accounted for and then some. If anything, they need to explore upgrades/prospect reloading by discussing guys like Frazier, Andujar (who I should've put somewhere on my trade list but forgot), JA Happ.
/salary dumping (in the case of happ)

Include urshela in a Josh Hader trade and stay with Andujar
Jeffrey Todd
8:43
Or, sure, Urshela. I don't know that he's a centerpiece on a Hader type of guy though. Needs to prove it for more than one year.

I know there was a report featuring Anderson, Wright, and a few others i forgot for a Bryant trade return. Would it be realistic to want a package with Pache and Fried instead or should I expect the others if a trade does happen?
Jeffrey Todd
8:44
I haven't seen such a report. But I would absolutely expect the Cubs to demand a premium return for one of the game's best position players. Not sure when it became vogue to suggest that stars aren't worth much, but the ability to cram like 5-7 WAR into one roster spot is still really valuable.
You only get 1-2 years of control? It's not super cheap? OH NO!
8:46
Come on now. Mid-prime stars in good health ... that's what everyone wants and needs. The fact that a guy is only around for one or two years, well ... sure, you'd rather have him signed to a really cheap, long-term deal, but it's better in most cases to have the affordable short arrangement than the super-long, top-dollar free agent commitment it takes to get such a player on the open market.

Will the Angels add another SP of top tier ilk?  If so, who seems most likely?
Jeffrey Todd
8:47
I don't know who, but they certainly need to. Can't mess around at this point. It's nice to have added some (hopefully) sturdy depth guys but they are chasing the Astros and have already installed the stars position players. Can't afford to have the rotation fall through.
Brodie

Will I find a taker for Dom Smith?
Jeffrey Todd
8:49
Yeah I think so. Just a guy that has more value in trade than on that roster, I think.
Lindor
8:49
Anything on the Lindor front? He can't go to LAD without Lux in return. LAD doesn't want to trade Lux, so don't know about a trade lining up
Jeffrey Todd
8:49
I wouldn't assume it's Lux or no deal. Three-team possibilities abound.

When are the "broke" Cubs going to start filling holes?
Jeffrey Todd

Soon as they free some salary, I guess.

Okay, settle in everyone. Let's give this a shot ...

Would this be a fair return for Bryant from the Braves Ian Anderson, Justin Dean, Daysbel Hernandez and Tucker Davidson.

Monster 3 way trade involving Reds/Dodgers/Indians in the works?
Jeffrey Todd

I have no clue, but it's awfully tempting to imagine. Lindor and Seager and Senzel, oh my.

Mets more likely to get Lindor or betts?
Jeffrey Todd

Can I choose "neither"?

What would an extension for Jack flattery look like? Should the cards do long term deals for him and Hudson now?
Jeffrey Todd
8:57
Flaherty would be a great target. I think he'd easily be able to demand a pre-arb record (think that's still held by Kluber) after this pitching bonanza we've seen this winter. Trouble is, rumor has it he was pretty unhappy with the club's handling of his contract (they didn't give him much of a boost) ... there are at least some loose indications he's the type that might want to just play out the string and test free agency.

Does Klentak and co. have any tricks up their sleeves? I'm kinda feeling a big time trade coming with Bohm as the centerpiece..

Another team that really can't just sit on its hands, right? Man, I don't know. But I'm excited for the next two months.

Being both a White Sox and Brewer fan, I'm having a bit of a see-saw offseason. What are you're general thoughts on both teams this far?
Jeffrey Todd
9:00
Can't give a full run-down here, but re the Brewers ... there was some understandable disappointment with some of the player-shedding. Some of that was inevitable ... no chance they were topping the Reds on Moose, for example.
9:01
But you have to respect the back-filling effort. They got some real solid buys. It's just ... if you expect the Brewers to ever really make concerted win-now pushes, you may be disappointed. It's not how they are geared to operate at the moment. They are going to be hyper-value focused, turning over half the roster if that is necessary.

Why no Trevor Story rumors with Rockies willing to listen? Seems like a perfect target for Reds among others, would be an upgrade for most.
Jeffrey Todd
9:02
The real issue is that it doesn't make sense to deal Story unless they move a few other guys first/also. That would have to be part of a massive blow-up.
