Marte and Kela/Crick to LAD for May and Ruiz. Who says no?

I heard a rumor of Nick Castellanos to the Yankees... Is this realistic and what have you heard?
Jeffrey Todd
9:04
I guess there can be rumors of just about anything. That really doesn't sound like it'd make sense at all.
9:05
Yankees have loads of righty bats and are trying to stay under the upper luxury tax brackets.
Cards fan
9:05
Do you see the cards getting Corey Dickerson or someone else
Jeffrey Todd
9:06
Man, I don't know ... John Mozeliak adds and subtracts outfielders like he's Jerry Dipoto. They'd have to move guys out of the way to bring in an OF.

Read that This is going to be a pay site eventually?

What on earth? No.

What's the latest on mlbtr nazis only allowing comments on certain articles? If you don't want people commenting don't be the tmz of baseball then you won't have to worry about dumpster fire comment sections
Jeffrey Todd

LOLOLOLOL
This is the most clownish take.
9:09
How are we the TMZ of baseball? That's ludicrous.
We cover stories with relevance to the hot stove.
9:10
In some cases, the underlying story touches upon subjects that lead stupid people about the internet to lose their minds and scream at one another. I feel sad for these people. But I cannot spend the entirety of my time wading through their comments to take some out or selectively edit them.
9:11
So ... if you want to have the TMZ discussion, or the inflammatory political discussion, or whatever ... go find another place.
Simple.

Will the Orioles ever even buy a vowel? All they seem interested in is recycling and retreading
Jeffrey Todd
9:13
I think they will begin operating in the nature of the Brewers. But they had way more work to do in breaking down and rebuilding not only their talent pool, but their player intake/development systems.
9:14
Which is to say, they will only buy a vowel if it darn well makes sense to.
Chip
9:15
Why is there so little movement on Corey Dickerson? All he does is hit for average, power, and play solid d in the corner.
Jeffrey Todd
9:15
There have been some indications he's in real demand. Just no specific rumors. After Calhoun did rather well (2/16), I think Dickerson will get more.

Was hearing that the Braves were working a deal for Arenado and Blackmon?
Jeffrey Todd
9:16
I have a hard enough time seeing Arenado, because he's so expensive (and also the opt-out situation). But Blackmon as well? It's just so much money.
Hader

Am I staying or going? if I'm going then where to?

Do you see the Giants making another trade for a bad contract plus good prospect and if so what team and bad contract makes sense to you?
Jeffrey Todd
9:26
It's sorta hard for teams to do deals like that on the other side, too. How do you justify that to fans? That said, it is an interesting concept. I mentioned it in some post or another earlier in the offseason with regard to the Padres.
9:27
Think of it like this: you could trade a valuable prospect for a certain player. In theory. But the market may not make for a match. Maybe instead, you trade the prospect to offload obligations, then use the saved money to buy a free agent.
9:28
Padres/Wil Myers were the other team I thought could make sense, though it'd be harder for them to make that kind of deal with the Giants.
It sort of has to be a team looking to win now and with some prospects to burn.

Why are the Jays not going after Kevin Pillar.  I’m sure he could be had for cheap, knows the club house, and can provide a veteran presence?
Jeffrey Todd
9:29
Can you imagine the fan reaction if they had signed Pillar before wrapping up the Ryu signing???
9:30
I guess in theory they could circle back to him but I don't see why he'd be a priority.
You should be fired
