Brewers would obviously want a ton for Hader, and I guess NYY makes more sense from a "I'd rather not deal Hader to a league rival" perspective even if L.A. might have more prospects

Any other big moves for my rangers?
Mark P
9:37
They definitely need some more help in the lineup, particularly answers at 1B, 3B, C, and probably CF.
So they're not done by any means
Bobby M

JD Davis Dom Smith and Mathew Allan to Rockies for arenado? Enough??
Mark P
9:38
Not remotely enough
Angels fan
9:38
Who can the Angels get to pitch and catch
Mark P
9:39
Sadly, Double Duty Radcliffe is no longer with us.

The catching market is getting pretty slim, though Chirinos and Castro are still out there.

Thoughts on the Corey Dickerson signing
Mark P
9:41
A solid move from the Marlins.  They instantly patch a big hole in LF and make their team better, which every club should be doing in the wake of a 105-loss season
Huddy
9:41
Which team makes your job the most interesting?
Mark P
9:41
The interesting thing is that the "most interesting team" title changes hands every few months, it seems

I’ve heard reports that the Rangers are the favorites to land Nicholas Castellanos. What do you think?
Mark P
9:43
I picked Texas and Castellanos in the free agent contest, so I'm hopeful!  If the Rangers, Cubs, and Giants are the top suitors, Texas makes more sense than the other two --- Giants may be more apt to rebuild, while the Cubs have (ahem) "no money"

Mark: If the Braves whiff on Donaldson would they consider Anderson from the Marlins? I would assume Riley and Fried should be acceptable?
Mark P
9:44
Miami would do that trade in a heartbeat but no way would the Braves agree.  They might feel Riley can match Anderson's production as early as this season
DS
9:44
What is taking Donaldson so long to sign?
Mark P
9:45
It's possible he's just waiting until the holidays are done.  You'd be surprised how many offseason delays are caused by something as simple as "Player X is on vacation" or something
The other theory is, he's waiting to see if a team actually steps up and offers four years and an acceptable salary
Mark
9:47
Are the White Sox more likely to go after relief pitching via free agency or trade?
Mark P
9:48
Maybe trade by this point, since there aren't a ton of real difference-making RPs out there.  But then again, you never know which mid-tier reliever will suddenly turn it on the next season

Best baseball memory from the decade?
Mark P
9:49
I'm a Jays fan, so I've got to go with Bautista's bat flip
Dodger Girl
9:49
Is it possible the Dodgers can ONLY trade for Clevinger? Need for starting pitching is greater imo.
Mark P
9:50
I'm sure they could or have asked Cleveland about Clevinger, Lindor, Hand, or lots of permutations of any of the trio and other players.

Getting just Clevinger will be the toughest task of them all, however.  A young, talented, controllable pitcher is worth his weight in gold, particularly for a lower-payroll team like the Tribe

9:51
What did you think the Cardinals do to replace Ozuna’s bat?
Mark P
9:52
If Carlson comes as advertised or Carpenter gets back on track, that hitting could be made up from within
QUEUEBD
9:52
at this point, with how underwhelming the Giants offseason under Zaidi has been, you have to be thinking Mookie Betts or bust come his FA in 2021?
Mark P
9:53
The Giants make sense as a Betts suitor, if 2020 is spent clearing the decks and getting more young talent on board, to help convince Betts that this is a team on the rise.
Pete W
9:53
Wouldn’t the Rays be more equipped to land Mookie Betts and wouldn’t that be the kind of move to sway the fan base? I know it takes a lot to get there philosophically if you are the Rays.
Mark P
9:54
From everything I know about the Rays' fanbase, nothing will help get people out to the ballpark other than magically moving that stadium Carmen Sandiego-style into downtown St. Pete or downtown Tampa.
9:55
And I don't know if the Rays are willing to make a one-year splurge to get Betts, or if Boston would move him within the AL East
Rob
9:55
Would acquiring a 3rd baseman fix the Phillies position player problems
Mark P
9:56
I don't see 3B as a major problem for the Phils, frankly. Kingery can handle the position until Bohm shows up, which could be as soon as this year.  The rotation seems like a much bigger concern to me
6000 miles away
9:57
So you guys had a poll about how many games the Angels would win. Give me your guess.
Mark P
9:58
I think they need either one more good SP, or else I'd need a guarantee that Ohtani will be healthy and effective.  Otherwise, I'm not sure they get over .500.  AL will be tougher with Texas, Chicago, Toronto all improved....A's, Astros, Rays, Yankees, Indians, Twins all still tough, BoSox still good
Andrew
9:59
If you could pick the HOF class personally - who is 2020?
Mark P
10:00
Bonds, Clemens, Jeter, Walker, Rolen, Manny, Sheffield, and I add Lou Whitaker in via the veterans committee along with Marvin Miller and Ted Simmons
Matthew
10:00
Will the Cardinals trade Jose Martinez? There is no defensive fit for him in the NL and he is definitely an AL DH. Who needs a DH and what could the Cardinals get in return for Jose should they trade him?
Mark P
10:01
The problem is, not a lot of teams have an obvious DH opening.  The Cards have seemingly been trying to trade him for a while, with no luck
