Cubs would want, ideally, Minnesota to absorb KB's entire contract and also give up at least a couple of their best prospects (i.e. Lewis, Kirilloff).  I doubt the Twins would give up those guys for two years of Bryant, however, so unless the Cubs were willing to accept someone in the Graterol/Larnach class as the headliner, a fit might not happen.
Hypothetically, however, the Twins have enough payroll space to take some extra money off the Cubs' hands (maybe Chatwood's final year?) to help accommodate a Bryant trade for a lesser prospect return.

Why do people think the Dodgers have to trade all of there homegrown talent to get a star player for one or two years of control? Honestly as a fan id rather save the $$ and just extend belli or walker to long term deals and to keep doing what they are doing, it will eventually work right? it worked with SFG,CHC, STL,WAS

I can understand why some Dodgers fans (and Bill Plaschke!) are frustrated by all the postseason losses, but you're not wrong --- it only takes one October breakthrough to make it all worthwhile.
9:14
If anything, I'd say L.A. should be targeting relievers moreso than position players like Lindor or Betts, since as great as those guys are, the lineup isn't a concern

Any news on the Phillies front?
ts2096
9:14
What are the Phillies waiting for? They need pitching.
Mark P
9:15
It's been pretty quiet on the Phillies' front for a few weeks now.  They do indeed need pitching, and perhaps are sifting through the last remaining free agent arms or trying to work out a trade.

What is the likelihood that the nats are actually looking to trade for seager instead of Bryant or nolan
Mark P
9:16
The Castro/Cabrera signings could indicate they're done at 3B entirely.

Do you think Donaldson asking price is too high?
Mark P
9:19
Four years and roughly $110MM is Donaldson's reported price, for those who hadn't heard the news.  If he can replicate his 2019 numbers, it's more than reasonable.  Whether a player can be expected to do that over his age 35-38 seasons, however, is another story ---- don't forget that Donaldson is just a season removed from an injury-shortened 2018.
Is JD's asking price (four years in the $110MM range)too high?

Instead of trading for Lindor what about going after a SS like Xander Bogaerts or Marcus Semien?
Mark P
9:21
(Dick Williams = Reds president of baseball ops)

Semien can't be ruled out, if extension talks aren't going anywhere and the A's figure they'll be outbid in free agency.  Oakland plans to contend next year, however, so they'd need a good chunk of MLB-ready talent to move Semien anywhere.

I'd be flat-out shocked if the Red Sox traded Bogaerts, so that one isn't happening.

Are you expecting a lot of trades between now and spring training?
Mark P
9:22
Yep.  The free agent pool is already pretty thin, and a lot of teams still have some glaring needs

Is my roster good enough to WIN a world series as constructed right now?
Mark P
9:24
(Friedman = Dodgers president of baseball ops)

Sure it is.  The Dodgers are certainly good enough to reach the postseason, and win it all.  Just because the breaks haven't gone their way thus far doesn't mean they can't in the future, and it's not like the team has any glaring deficiencies on paper
james McCann

feels like I may be the odd man out? where should I look for a summer home at?
Mark P
9:26
The White Sox probably feel just fine having a well-qualified backup catcher, so unless they get a great offer from a catching-desperate team, McCann is likely staying put

Do you think that I will be successful with the Rangers?

If healthy, I believe Kluber will be a terrific addition to the Rangers.

I’m not sure why the Yankees aren’t in on Lindor. I would give up 4 years of Gleyber for Lindor’s 2 years
Mark P
9:30
I don't disagree that the Yankees should be looking to acquire Lindor, but Torres is just about the last player I'd deal away

Baseball ⚾️ offseason is so slow and boring
Mark P
9:32
Mark's shouldn't be a hot take but apparently it is: baseball has the best offseason of any sport.  Basketball, football, and hockey all have about 80% of the major signings done in the first day or two of free agency, and then a lot of nothing-happening weeks
The slower pace of baseball's signings and trades over several weeks and months makes the winter more interesting overall

What is the likelihood that the Dodgers trade Joc Pederson?
Mark P
9:35
He's seemed like a pretty obvious trade chip for a while now, but no takers.  Other teams probably are more focused on his inability to hit LHP than his power, which limits his trade value
Bort
9:35
The Yankees and Brandon Belt are a good fit, right? Yanks could use a left-handed bat at first-base and SF should be highly motivated to move Belt out.
Mark P
9:36
Yankees would want SF to eat some money, as Belt would boost NYY's luxury tax number.  But, the Yankees have the prospects to entice the Giants to do that, and you're right, Belt would be really intriguing going from AT&T's big outfield to the short porch at Yankee Stadium

Are the Orioles waiting to near the end of FA to see who has RP needs before trading Givens?
Mark P
9:38
Most teams are looking for RP help at all times, so I don't think the Orioles are waiting for any particular reason.  It could be simply that Givens isn't quite the elite arm he seemed to be a couple of years ago, and teams aren't willing to meet Baltimore's asking price
Ed

Having C&C at 2B makes it more likely they could trade Kieboom, no?
Mark P
9:39
In theory, but I doubt the Nats consider two veteran stopgaps as reason enough to move a top prospect
